Farewell, My Don Chapter 06

Farewell, My Don Chapter 06

Dominic’s POV

In the past, if I even spoke a few extra words to Amara, she would cry.

Now, she was actually handing me over to her?

I couldn’t fathom what she was thinking at all.

By the time I snapped out of it, Amara had already pulled me onto the dance floor.

As the music started, I held her waist, but my eyes couldn’t help drifting toward Genevieve, who was standing alone in the corner.

She sat by the buffet table eating a small piece of cake, her expression calm and her eyes vacant, as if she were at a party full of strangers.

Amara’s voice grew sharp with irritation.

“If you’re so worried about her, then go find her! I’ll find someone else to dance with.”

With that, she pulled her hand away and walked toward a man in a white suit.

I recognized him; he was Amara’s university classmate who had been obsessed with her for years.

I frowned as I watched Amara smile and place her hand in his.

They walked onto the dance floor together, and Amara leaned in close, her lips nearly brushing his cheek.

Her gaze was locked on me, provoking me.

I watched helplessly as her hand slowly slid from that bastard’s chest to somewhere it shouldn’t be.

I grit my teeth. That woman always loved testing the limits of my patience.

Did she think she could control me this way?

Damn it.

Did she just kiss him?

The wine glass in my hand shattered, shards piercing my palm.

Blood mixed with the wine, but I felt no pain.

I stormed over, grabbed Amara’s wrist, and dragged her off the dance floor.

“Dominic! What are you doing?! Let go of me!” Amara struggled, screaming.

Silent and grim-faced, I dragged her out of the ballroom to the empty balcony.

I pinned her against the cold railing and growled in a low voice, “Amara, do you have no sense of shame at all?!”

Amara was stunned for a moment, then she violently shook off my hand.

“No shame? I’m not married, and neither is he. We are both adults, consenting! What’s the problem? What right do you have to control me, Dominic? Are you my ex-boyfriend? Or someone else’s husband?!”

“You—!”

Her words stung like knives, and my anger exploded instantly.

I grabbed her face and kissed her fiercely.

Amara struggled for a moment, then succumbed, wrapping her arms around my neck and responding passionately to the kiss.

But then, Genevieve’s face flashed through my mind.

Her vacant eyes, her icy smile.

I pushed Amara away abruptly, as if I had been burned.

I stared at her; her lips were swollen, and her eyes were glazed, full of longing.

My heart sank.

“I’m sorry,” I turned my head away and said hoarsely, “I… I’ve had too much to drink. I mistook you for Genevieve.”

Amara wrapped her arms around my waist, looking up at me, her voice trembling with a mix of tears and pleading.

“Genevieve was never in your heart. How could you mistake me for her? Stop deceiving yourself, Dominic. You still love me; you can’t let me go!”

“Dominic, let’s stop torturing each other. Divorce Genevieve and let’s get back together. I swear I won’t be so stubborn anymore. I’ll love you, I’ll be the perfect Donna for the Don, please?”

Divorce? Get back together? These words struck me like lightning.

I pushed her away, my voice stiff. “What are you talking about? I’m not divorcing Genevieve!”

“Why not? Just because she’s followed you like a dog for five years?” Amara screamed, “Dominic, how much longer are you going to run from your feelings? If you don’t love me, if you truly don’t care about me, I’d rather die!”

With that, she turned and ran toward the edge of the balcony, as if she were going to jump.

“Amara! Are you crazy?!” Turning pale, I hurried over to stop her.

But just as I reached her, the large chandelier above us let out a creak and came crashing down—

Directly toward Amara’s head!

“Look out!” My eyes widened as I lunged in front of her, shielding her with my body, and we tumbled to the side together.

“CRASH—!!”

The heavy crystal chandelier smashed into the floor, shattering into countless pieces that flew everywhere.

“Dominic! Are you okay? You’re bleeding!”

Amara screamed, her face turning ghastly pale with terror.
