Everyone Wanted Me Dead After Watching One Video Chapter 02

Everyone Wanted Me Dead After Watching One Video Chapter 02

Facing the police, my mother remained her cold, detached self, her eyes showing no emotion.

Ethan looked at me, covered in bruises, with a broken arm and leg, and his anger boiled over. “How could you do this to her? Is Grace even your daughter?!” he shouted at her. “A monster like you doesn’t deserve to be a mother!”

His hands were clenched into tight fists at his sides, straining to control his rage. I knew if she weren’t a woman, he would have swung already. Knowing someone loved me made the pain a little more bearable.

The officers pressed my mother for an explanation, but she ignored them completely.

Seeing her silent defiance, Ethan turned to the police, furious. “I can be a witness. I’ve seen the bruises on my girlfriend time and again. Domestic violence can’t be tolerated! She needs to be punished…”

His tirade was cut off by my mother’s low chuckle. She slowly pulled her phone from her pocket and motioned for him to come closer. “Come here. I’ll show you something.”

In that moment, panic seized me. I quickly grabbed the hem of Ethan’s shirt, my voice trembling. “Don’t… don’t go over there. Don’t look…”

I knew. If Ethan saw that video, he would change.

My fear only seemed to puzzle him. “Grace, don’t be afraid. I will help you,” he said firmly. But I didn’t let go of his shirt. I couldn’t take that risk. “Ethan, please, I’m begging you. Don’t go.”

My terror only fueled his curiosity. Despite my pleas, he walked over to my mother. “What kind of nonsense is this? Let’s see what could possibly justify a mother torturing her own daughter!”

He took the phone and started watching. I stared at his face, clinging to a desperate hope. Maybe he was different. Maybe he’d still love me even after seeing it.

I was wrong.

Ethan’s eyes widened as he watched. Within minutes, his expression shifted completely. He didn’t speak, just looked at my mother in stunned silence. She gave him a slight nod.

Then he finally looked at me. All the softness, the protectiveness I’d seen in his eyes just minutes before, it was gone. Just… gone. Like someone had flipped a switch.

He handed the phone back to my mother, then turned and gave a stiff, formal nod to the officers. “My apologies,” he said, his voice flat. “I… misunderstood the situation. This isn’t a domestic violence case. Thank you for your time.”

The officers looked skeptical, then glanced at me. But I was speechless, my bitterness stuck in my throat. With my key witness retracting his statement, no one would believe me.

Ethan continued, “It’s just… a mother-daughter disagreement. We can handle it ourselves.”

With no evidence, the police removed the handcuffs and left the hospital.

When Ethan faced me again, his expression was cold. Then, right in front of me, he knelt down and begged my mother to kill me. “You did the right thing, ma’am. She deserves to die! It’d be better if she were dead!”

Tears streamed down onto the back of my hands. “Ethan, why?” I whispered, disbelieving. “Why did you leave me too?”

He didn’t even look at me. “You deserve to die,” he said coldly.

My heart turned to ashes. Ethan had joined the ranks of those who had seen the video and abandoned me.

I remembered when he first saw my injuries. He’d vowed solemnly to protect me forever, even from my own mother. I’d asked him, smiling through tears, “Promise you won’t bail on me?”

He wiped a tear away with his thumb. “Never,” he said, so sure it felt like truth. “If your family won’t love you right, I’ll love you enough for all of them. I’ll get you out of this hell. For good.”

That was the promise. That was the man I thought he was.

But what I got was him abandoning me, just like the others.

Amid the pain and despair, a seed of fierce curiosity took root. What was in that video? What could make everyone side with my mother and wish for my death?

I broke up with Ethan. He agreed without hesitation.
