Drowning in Love Chapter 11

Drowning in Love Chapter 11

I was speechless.

The days that followed were pretty sweet. Wendy kept teasing me, saying I was practically glowing.

A week went by before I finally got the chance to open Travis’s secret account again.

There were a few short posts:

“She knows how I feel. It’s better than closing a billion-dollar deal.”

“I don’t expect her to fall head over heels for me right away. I just want her to stop thinking about pushing me away.”

“In the year I loved her most, I chose to forgive her ‘infidelity.””

Me: …

What sad soap drama is he running in his head now?

Haven’t I already explained the whole model thing?

I had a nagging feeling there was more to it.

I snapped my laptop shut and headed up to the second-floor gym.

Travis was lifting weights.

His build was already enough to make his buddies jealous. The fact that he still trained like a maniac was unfair. It also explained why I was completely outmatched when it came to strength.

I admired the powerful muscles in his back for a moment, then strolled over and handed him a towel.

“You’re already perfect. Don’t overdo it.”

Travis didn’t even look up. “A husband’s physique is a medal for his wife.”

My mouth twitched.

If that’s a medal, it’s a heavy one.

When Travis came out of the shower, I stood in the doorway and stopped him.

He rubbed his hair dry, one eyebrow lifting. “You want to ask me something?”

Ha. Classic Travis. Dying inside, still acting like a cold CEO.

If I left him alone, he’d bottle it up until it made him sick.

So I poked the bruise on purpose.

“I saw something on social media today: ‘Find someone who loves you to be your ATM. Find someone you love to

be your lover.’ Honestly? That lifestyle sounds kind of appealing. What do you think?”

Travis’s face darkened. “Don’t even think about it.”

“What if I already have?”

A flicker of heartbreak crossed his eyes. “I know the rumors. I’m not blaming you. It must be those guys. They’re too scheming, using dirty tricks to tempt you.”

Then his voice softened, almost desperate. “But Anna, just this once… please. Otherwise I’m really going to lose it.”

He wrapped his arms around me from behind. There was panic in his voice, but his hold was almost painfully gentle, like he was afraid I’d break.

His whole loyal-dog logic nearly made me laugh and scream at the same time.

I pulled away. “If you’re so all-knowing, then tell me who I’ve been seeing.”

“I don’t know.”

“Then what are you basing this ‘cheating’ accusation on?”

Travis stared hard at my neck.

There were still faint marks from a few days ago.

He pressed his lips together, voice heavy. “Last time you were out all night and came back with red marks on your neck, a hoarse voice, and a fever. I thought…”

I tried to remember.

That night, I’d been at Wendy’s, smoking and drinking until my voice was wrecked.

But yeah. I could see how that would look.

So I walked him through it point by point, then kissed him. “It was a misunderstanding. I’m not planning to be a cheater in this marriage.”

Then I tapped his chest. “But you, Travis. You’re a big shot on Wall Street. You’re decisive in the boardroom. How come you turn into a mute in front of me? Just sulking in silence?

“You’ve got a mouth. Use it. It’s not just for decoration.”

His lashes lowered. “It was my fault.”
