Divorced & Dying The Mafia Boss Regrets Everything Chapter 05

The whole affair ended with Grace severely injured.

Before he left, Dominic had the place smashed to pieces.

Grace vomited white paint mixed with blood, twitching uncontrollably. An ambulance took her away, and

she barely survived after three days in intensive care.

Now her brain tumor was worse, and her lungs were burned.

The fever and inflammation tormented her. At one point, she asked her secretary to help arrange

euthanasia.

But then she thought about how Dominic had destroyed her things and she decided to pay him back–no,

ten times over.

In a haze, she felt like she was back in the old days, fighting tooth and nail with Dominic.

Had she ever been happy?

Sometimes, yes. Once in a while, when Dominic needed her, they could sit down over a candlelit dinner like any ordinary couple.

Back then, she really did love him, very much.

But now she couldn’t.

Benjamin, who had just woken up, hobbled from his own room to the ICU to see her. He told her that the news about Dominic and Sienna’s sordid affair had reached his old comrades in arms.

When he saw that she remained as calm as ever, he banged his cane and said in disgust, “You’re just going to let him walk all over you?”

Crude, but true.

Grace didn’t want to deal with him. She gave him a weak smile and said politely, “Grandpa, mind your own business.”

Benjamin’s beard bristled with fury.

The old man looked more full of life than she did. Great, Grace thought.

She really had broken her promise to her aunt.

Because she might not even outlive Benjamin.

Facing death, Grace felt lighter and more carefree than ever before. She went ahead and offended everyone

she had always been too afraid to cross.

Even Finnegan, who had rushed over in shock, she bossed around without a second thought–do this, do that–making him so mad he nearly slammed the door and left.

After he cooled down, Finnegan sighed. “I never thought Dominic would go this far for that woman, without

a second thought for old times.”

Grace feigned surprise. “So you still haven’t gotten used to it? We’ve always been like this–fight till one of

us dies.”

Finnegan fell silent again.

After a long moment, Grace stopped joking and looked him square in the eye.

“Finnegan, this time I really don’t want anything more to do with him. Tell him that as long as he signs the divorce and doesn’t cross my lines, I won’t pursue any of the past–even though he nearly killed me.”

“You know I never joke with you.”

Her head started pounding again. She closed her eyes.

“Anything in the company or the syndicate that’s related to me–throw it away, burn it, whatever.”

Finnegan looked at her with complicated eyes. In the end, he could only say a dry, “Fine.”

All these years, he had watched her and Dominic fight like cats and dogs, yet at critical moments, they had always worked together seamlessly against outsiders/

Eight years had slipped by. He thought they would go on like that forever. But unexpectedly, the one who had loved the most fiercely was the first to let go and turn away.

The machines hummed in the quiet room.

Then the door opened.

Sometimes Grace really wondered if she had broken the laws of heaven in a past life–the more she tried to avoid something, the more it showed up at her door.

Dominic walked slowly to her bedside, looked down at her, still with that arrogant expression.

Grace turned her head away and closed her eyes. Now she didn’t want to look at him.

“I never said I would marry Sienna.”

Grace opened her eyes again and looked at him. Her expression asked, So?

“You don’t have to divorce me. You can still come back to the company. There’s a place for you there. But

you can’t hurt Sienna anymore. She’s innocent.”

As he spoke, Dominic reached out and tucked the blanket around her. He looked away, his gaze falling on her pale, thin neck. His heart tightened, and he frowned slightly.

When had Grace gotten so thin?

Grace watched him for a long time without speaking.

Even his soft words were delivered with this aloof, superior air.

The old Grace might have gladly accepted his concession.

But now she couldn’t and wouldn’t degrade herself like that.

She pushed Dominic’s hand away without a word, and while he was still stunned, she said coldly, “Dominic, I never planned to touch her.”

“But I’m telling you now–as long as you haven’t signed the divorce papers, I’ll never let you off the hook, and I’ll never let Sienna off either.”
