Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 09

Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 09 The Worthy

After Sandy Creek, I returned to Northspire with my daughter.

I immersed myself in building a new company for months.

Leveraging years of connections and my own research, the tech firm quickly gained its footing.

One day, I was reviewing the latest reports in my office.

My assistant entered. “Ms. Vale, Adrian’s Luminex Tech hit the limit-down again today.”

I took a sip of coffee, my gaze fixed on the reflection of the city’s skyline in the window.

Since I revoked Adrian’s research authorization, his company had been in free fall.

The stock plummeted from 300 to under 10, evaporating billions.

“They’re desperately seeking new partners to salvage the situation,” my assistant added.

I smiled coldly. Everyone in this industry knew Luminex’s core technology was mine.

Without my authorization, they had nothing to offer.

On the news, Adrian was shown cornered by shareholders.

Suit wrinkled, hair disheveled, face exhausted. Former partners now circled like vultures, waiting to pick the

carcass clean.

“Ms. Vale, the National Innovation Conference is next week. Adrian claims he’ll present their ‘groundbreaking’ research there.”

I set down my cup, a sharp smile forming. “Perfect. I’ll be attending.”

On conference day, I entered the hall in a sharply tailored black suit, heels clicking with purpose.

Looks of respect and awe followed me. In under a year, I had become the most formidable new force in tech.

On stage, Adrian was desperately pitching his “groundbreaking research”.

But his so-called innovations were just hollow modifications of my work.

The experts saw through it instantly.

“Prof. Cross,” one interrupted, “isn’t this core algorithm from Vale Technologies?”

Adrian’s face went pale.

His trembling gaze found mine, pleading.

I arched a brow, watching him stumble over his words on stage, cornered and squirm.

“Everyone, allow me to clarify,” I said, rising calmly. “The technology was developed by me. The man before you used his wife and daughter as test subjects-just to feed his ambition. Now he tries to steal my work.”

The room erupted in shock.

Adrian’s face paled, then ashen with humiliation.

He stumbled from the stage and collapsed to his knees before me. “I’m sorry… I was wrong… Please forgive

me.”

I took a step back, looking down with cold disgust. “Have you no dignity, Professor?”

“None without you. Just come back, I’ll do anything.”

He begged, the picture of a broken man.

A sharp laugh escaped me. “You think you deserve that chance?”

I turned away. The click of my heels echoed through the silent hall, each step crushing what remained of his pride.

Back in my office, my assistant approached with a final report.

“Prof. Cross was expelled from the academic committee. His company has filed for bankruptcy protection.”

I gazed at the sunset, feeling nothing.

The foolish woman who had once slaved away in that lab was dead. Now, I lived only to build a peaceful future for my daughter.
