Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 01

Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 01 The Anniversary Nightmare

It was supposed to be our wedding anniversary. But instead, a group of thugs locked me up—with animals. For thirty days.

When the paramedics found me, my clothes were rags, my skin caked with filth. And my breast—a hollow landscape of pain.

My husband, Adrian Cross, fell to his knees, eyes rimmed red with fury, swearing he’d make every one of them pay.

Our son, Ethan, pulled every string he could to get me into the city’s best hospital.

But in the swaying ambulance, drifting in and out of consciousness, I heard Ethan’s hesitant voice.

“Dad… aren’t we going too far? Even if it’s for Aunt Lydia’s research data, there are other ways.”

Adrian’s gaze swept over me, a storm of conflict in his eyes before his jaw tightened with resolve. “Your mother was always selfish. She used to pick on your aunt when they were kids. Letting her suffer a bit now is only fair. Besides, locking her up with those animals—it’s part of a study on human–animal interaction. Your aunt needs real data for her psychology paper. Don’t worry. I’ll make it up to your mom. She’ll live comfortably for the rest of her life.”

But Adrian, you’d already destroyed my everything.

A tear traced a path through the grime on my cheek.

This family. This beautiful, poisonous lie. I didn’t want it anymore.

When I came to, I dialed a number, “The confidentiality period is over. Reinstate my identity. Now.”

……

Voices cut through the haze from the ICU hallway.

“Prof. Cross, your wife is critical.” The doctor’s tone was strained. “Her body is flooded with zoonotic pathogens. We’ve identified nearly a hundred distinct viral and bacterial strains attacking her organs and intestines. Without immediate, targeted treatment, we’re looking at systemic organ decay and a high risk of active rabies infection. The only thing that can save her is the medicine you developed. But we need your authorization…”

“No.”

Before the doctor could finish, my husband Adrian cut off. The word was ice. No hesitation.

“Any interference would corrupt Lydia’s research data. Keep her alive—nothing more.”

The anesthetic was pulling me under, and my mind grew fuzzy.

The doctor’s sigh floated through the haze.

“Without the special drug, the virus will keep eating her alive. She won’t last long…”

Then my son—his voice cracked with something almost human.

“Dad, maybe we should just use the medicine. What if she doesn’t make it?”

“Enough! It was just a normal experiment with animals. Nothing will happen. Don’t waste my time. Do as I said.”

As darkness swallowed me whole, a single tear slipped free.

So that was my worth for him.

Less than data, less than my sister’s ambition.

Years of marriage, of love and trust, collapsed into nothing. The truth hit like a slap, hot and final.

The surgery felt endless.

When I woke, the white light was so harsh it burned through my eyelids.

Adrian and Ethan were standing by the bed.

“Mom!” His eyes were red-rimmed. He lunged forward to hug me.

And I flinched, pulling back before I even knew why.

He froze. So did Adrian.

That was when the doctor stepped in, flipping through my chart.

“The surgery barely saved her. Her organs are badly damaged, and the canine distemper virus is embedded deep. She’ll likely spike high fevers every night from now on.”

I shut my eyes, shutting them all out—the light, the voices, the pity. There was nothing left in me to break.

A dull ache pulsed in the hollow of my chest—a reminder carved into flesh of everything they’d done.

For the month in that hell, I’d survived on one fragile belief—that my husband and son would come for me. Now I knew the cruel truth. They were the ones behind it.

How could I not hate them?

After the doctor left, Ethan reached for my hand, his face a mask of practiced, sorrowful concern.

“Mom… you’ve suffered so much.”

Disgust crawled up my throat. I pulled my hand away.

“I’m tired. I want to rest.”

He went rigid for a second, then caught on—he knew better than to push it. Without another word, he followed Adrian out of the room.

I thought I’d finally have a moment of quiet—until their voices drifted through the door.

“Are the reporters here?” Adrian’s voice.

“Don’t worry, Dad, they’ll be here soon,” Ethan replied.

“Good. We need her pain on display. Only when the crowd tears her apart can we get something real. Lydia’s report will finally have proof—whether a mind under extreme stress collapses back into something animal.”

My son’s tone brightened, disturbingly eager.

“Auntie’s gonna love this, right? Then she’ll finally take me as her son!”

Something tore inside me.

After everything they’d put me through, breaking my body, stripping me of my humanity, and now they wanted to make me a spectacle.
