Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 04 The Shove
I watched her step closer, a cold dread tightening in my chest. “Serena,” she said softly. But in that instant, a branch cracked overhead. A dead limb came crashing down. “Watch out!” Adrian and Ethan shouted in unison. A violent shove sent me stumbling. The back of my head struck the stone edge of the drainage ditch with a sickening crack. Blinding pain swallowed my vision. They had caught Lydia, of course, shielding her perfectly. “Lydia, are you okay?” Adrian’s voice was pure tenderness. He never even looked my way. My body, already broken from surgery, gave out. I fought the darkness for a few minutes—then lost. I didn’t know when they’d brought me home. Consciousness returned in a haze of pain. The first thing I heard was Lydia’s voice, a saccharine purr. “Adrian… how about right in front of the wedding photo…” “But your Serena is here,” his voice was a weak protest. “I’m wearing my graduation gown…” she coaxed. “Let me have you right in front of your marriage certificate.” The next sounds were unmistakable—low moans, wet, frantic kisses. A hot tear escaped from my tightly shut eye, soaking the pillow. In that photo, I stood in the lace I’d loved, my smile full of a future I believed in. Now it was just a backdrop for their sordid little game. A raw scream tore from me. I surged up, eyes flying open, ready to lunge. But my wrists were bound tight. My struggle was useless, a frantic twisting. “Can you stop losing your damn mind for once?” Adrian snarled, holding a disheveled Lydia in his embrace as he turned on me. His eyes held nothing but cold hatred. Ethan rushed in at the noise, shielding Lydia. “Don’t you yell at my mom!” That word—mom—was a shiv of ice straight to my heart. My son, the child I carried and loved, was calling her mother. “Adrian, Ethan, give us a moment,” Lydia said, her voice sweet. “Let me talk to her alone.” She closed the door after they left. The moment the door clicked shut, her gentle mask vanished, leaving something cold and merciless. She walked toward me, a cruel smile twisting her lips.
