Vincent couldn’t believe it, his voice shook. “An engagement like this can’t just be called off! It’s against all the rules!”

Vincent looked frantic. “I want to talk to Mr. Thorne! I’ll get an explanation from him! He owes me that much!” 

I gestured at the soldiers, letting them know they didn’t need to stop him. Then I reminded him casually, “Go ahead. But you’ll have to get through the doors of Thorne Group first.” 

“And remember, watch your mouth. You’re not the Thorne family’s future son–in–law anymore. You’re just the second son of the Costa family, and you’ve crossed the Thornes.” 

Vincent froze completely. He knew I was telling the truth. With the Thorne family’s power, he couldn’t even get through 

their front doors. 

After Vincent left, I went and bought the rare gems anyway, a pair of pink diamonds set into rings, exquisite and luxurious. 

I showed up at Noah’s place with a huge entourage, carrying the rings and the gifts. 

I might have made a bit of a scene. The media seemed to have 

noticed. 

Our family’s rule was to keep a low profile, stay out of the spotlight. 

But marriage was a big deal, so a little celebration was fine. 

Online, people were guessing. [Who’s getting married? That’s some wedding gifts.)

Meanwhile, Vincent had been wandering the streets like a ghost after being turned away from the Thorne estate. 

He tried to storm Thorne Tower, but the family guards beat 

him down. 

He pulled out a special privilege pass the Thornes had given him, but the guard snatched it, threw it on the ground, called it a fake, and beat him up again. 

The Costa family estate, once full of visitors, had gone quiet 

overnight. 

Vincent tried several times to call on other mafia families to join forces against the Thornes. 

Either they didn’t answer, or they came in person to cut ties, terrified of being caught in the crossfire. 

Only then did Vincent realize that all the Costa family’s 

success had depended on his engagement to me, on the 

Thorne family’s protection. 

Then he saw the online buzz about me personally bringing my 

gifts to Noah’s place. 

Vincent’s eyes blazed with rage. He screamed, “She’s 

twenty–five! There’s no way she found someone new this 

fast.” 

“She was already sleeping with Noah, wasn’t she? That’s why she broke it off with me! That bitch!” 

People around him backed away. No one wanted to get 

involved. 

Someone muttered, “The Thorne heiress does whatever she 

wants. Who is he to criticize her?” 

Vincent went back to the Costa estate. His father was already waiting in the living room, his face like thunder. 

“Dad, why are you back early?” Vincent barely got the words out before a slap landed on his face. 

“Why am I back? Because you’ve destroyed the Costa family, that’s why!” His father laughed bitterly. 

“As of today, you’re no longer a Costa. Get out.”
