Bound To The Moon Priestess Chapter 07

Bound To The Moon Priestess Chapter 07

I never wanted to see Roran again after the look of slight confusion on his face. I spun around and stormed into the temple, with Leoric right behind me.

“Thank you,” I said quietly.

“I couldn’t stand that guy either,” Leoris muttered.

That afternoon, I took Leoric down to the river.

The hound puppies always came here to swim, especially when the weather got really hot.

As I was walking, one little hound circled around my legs, its tail wagging like a windmill.

I smiled, squatted down, and pulled out some meat to feed it.

Then Leoric squatted down too and didn’t say a word. After thinking for a second, he pulled out a small piece of jerky and teased the puppy in front of him.

I realized what a tease Leoric was.

The puppy’s eyes lit up and it lunged for the treat.

He lifted the jerky right out of its reach.

The puppy deflated.

He kept on teasing it by tickling its tail.

I couldn’t hold it in and smacked Leoric’s hand.

Only then did he drop the jerky.

He grinned and said, “This pup’s got the same temper as you.”

“That doesn’t sound like a compliment to me,” I replied.

We sat on the riverbank playing with the puppies.

Suddenly, Leoric said, “It would’ve been nice if you’d met Roran sooner. Roran acts all cold on the surface, but he’s actually really easy to get along with. He and Isara got to know each other through letters.

“Back then, Roran’s dad had just passed away, and his uncle was fighting him for the Alpha spot.

“Through all that terrible time, the only moment I ever saw Roran crack a warm smile was when he was writing letters to his pen pal. Roran has so many hobbies…”

I didn’t tell Leoric that I’d actually met Roran a long time ago.

And Roran already knew I was his pen pal.

But what difference did that make anyway?

He regretted it in the end.

When Leoric kept rambling on, I put on a surprised face and asked, “Huh? Why are you telling me all this?”

He stared at me for a second, then smiled. “Your eyes give it away. You love him. That kind of affection never

stays hidden.”

After that, I barely spoke to Roran anymore.

When we ran into each other occasionally, I’d just take a different route to avoid him.

Roran stayed pretty chill about my obvious distance and didn’t react at all, but my sister got suspicious.

She badgered Roran for answers, but never got any.

After that incident, Leoric and I got a lot closer. He came to see me all the time.

I’d often bring him little treats too, and invite him to try the drinks I made with my secret recipe.

Sometimes we read old scrolls together.

I was a priest, so I had to be able to read ancient texts. But this stuff wasn’t something he had to learn, so he’d always doze off halfway through.

The temple held a priest assessment every six months.

This time around, my score was way better than Isara’s. The elder looked at me with approval.

“Since ancient times, Sun Priests have always been stronger than Moon Priestesses.”

A flicker of quiet jealousy flashed across Isara’s eyes standing nearby.

“Caelum’s just a bookworm. He’s short and scrawny, not even that good-looking. Of course he has to be good at studying-what girl would like him otherwise?”

Leoric clicked his tongue and ignored her. He reached up and brushed my bangs out of my face.

“C’mon, your hair’s almost covering your eyes. I’ll take you to get a nice haircut.”

I couldn’t talk him out of it, so he sat me down in front of an old barber.

Growing up, Mom always took me and Isara to get our hair cut.

The young stylist there only knew how to do women’s cuts, and she did such a pretty job curling Isara’s hair.

She was always stuck with what to do with me, so Mom would just say, “Just cut it however.”

This was the first time anyone had actually styled my hair properly for me.

It was still short, but it made me look way softer and nicer.

When I walked out of the shop, I was still pretty nervous.

Leoric’s eyes lit up a little, then he looked away.

“Wow…

“You look like a pretty peacock now.’

Having Leoric as a friend made me a lot more talkative than I used to be. I could actually get angry or laugh

out loud now.

Before long, I noticed quite a few girls sneaking glances at me, and sometimes they’d leave me little gifts and

stuff.

One day, Emma joked to my mom, “Your son is so handsome and smart. I wonder what lucky girl is gonna win his heart someday?”
