Bought A Lover, Got A Butler: The Demon CEO’s Secret Chapter 06

Liam’s expression darkened instantly. “This is the ‘someone’ you were having over?”

“You’re getting another succubus?” His gaze cut straight through me, cold and flat.

Ethan cocked his head and flashed Liam an easy smile. “Not just a guest – I’m Master’s companion. She can do whatever she wants with me, anytime.”

My face went instantly, catastrophically red. Companion-type succubus, all right, absolutely no

filter.

Liam’s gaze swept from Ethan to me and back, slow and heavy, and the weight of it held me where I stood. I couldn’t bring myself to look up.

He held my gaze for one long, loaded moment, then turned and walked into the kitchen without a

word.

What the hell was that? He hadn’t said a thing, but the silence landed like a wall between us, solid

with anger.

Whatever excitement I’d felt about Ethan died on the spot. I pulled out my phone and messaged

customer service.

“Is Liam a high-level succubus? He seems really hostile about the new arrival.”

The chat bubble sat there blinking [Typing…] for a full two minutes before a reply finally came

through.

[Sorry hun, our database is having issues right now so we can’t look up succubus levels at the

moment.]

[But based on his records, Liam’s original classification was NOT high-level!]

That made sense. This was probably just Liam being Liam.

I was still debating whether to go smooth things over with him when he started carrying dishes out of the kitchen. Ethan practically bounced over, eyes bright and eager.

“Liam, you’re amazing! We can split the work – you handle the house, I’ll take care of Master. We’ll make the perfect team!”

Liam walked past him like he wasn’t there, set my plate down, set out my silverware, and poured me a glass of apple juice.

Then he disappeared into his room. He didn’t come back out until Ethan and I had finished eating.

Something knotted tight in my stomach. He wasn’t sulking in there and starving himself out of spite, was he?

Maybe he was worried I’d replace him now that I had another succubus. I went to his room myself

and picked my words carefully.

“Thank you for lunch. Is there anything you want? Name it, and it’s yours.”

Liam’s brow was still pulled tight, but something in his gaze softened at the offer. He made a low,

muffled sound before he answered.

“What if I said I wanted you to send Ethan away?”

“That’s not happening.” The air between us turned instantly to ice.

He dropped his gaze, his lashes falling like a curtain over whatever was churning underneath. “Can he take care of you the way I can?”

“Does he know you can’t stand onions or cilantro, that you need something warm with every meal? Does he know your hands and feet go ice-cold in winter?”

“Would he even know when you’re happy and when you’re hurting?” Liam’s eyes locked onto mine.

“Some low-level succubus who can barely put a sentence together could never do what I do for you.

Anything he can give you, I can give you too.”

That last line sent my thoughts somewhere they had absolutely no business going. I shook my head

hard. “No. You can’t.”

Liam stared, clearly thrown. “What can’t I do? Tell me.”

There was no way I was answering that question. I ignored the intensity burning behind his eyes

and bolted from the room.

That evening, Ethan emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and eager. “Master, I’m here to

take care of you now.”

I rubbed the back of my neck, suddenly self-conscious. “You don’t have to call me Master. Just call me Alice, the way Liam does.”

Ethan tilted his head and thought about it for a second. “Is that allowed?”

“No.” He answered his own question before I could say anything, nodding to himself.

“Master is Master. Master doesn’t have a name. If you have a name, you’re not Master.”

I stared at him. He was genuinely, almost impressively dumb.

I tried a different angle. “Okay, well-what’s your wish? What would make you happy?”

Ethan considered it with the gravity of a philosopher. “My wish is for Master to fall completely under my spell and never want to leave.”

The words had barely left his mouth before a sharp crack split the air. The doorknob snapped clean

off.

We both turned at the same time. Liam stood in the doorway, jaw locked tight, the broken half of the

doorknob still clenched in his fist.
