Betrayed On My Wedding Eve Chapter 13

Betrayed On My Wedding Eve Chapter 13

I packed everything I owned. Went home. To my mother.

I sat in front of her grave for an entire day.

Brendan called. Again and again. I blocked him.

Sometimes I felt ashamed.

If my mother could see how I’d spent these last few years, would she be disappointed?

I’d let her down. I hadn’t grown into someone brave or proud or strong. I’d wasted three years on a man who wasn’t worth it.

On the third day I went back to the cemetery as usual.

And found something unexpected beside her headstone.

A Bird of Paradise.

My heart went loud.

My mother’s favorite flower.

Who had been here?

I ran to the cemetery office and asked.

They said flowers had been coming every few months.

Then they gave me an address.

I had an answer forming in my chest that I didn’t dare believe.

I found the florist.

The owner told me: about three years ago, she’d received a standing order. Bird of Paradise, delivered to the grave of a Claire, every three months. The client had paid three full years upfront. She remembered him clearly.

My heart was almost coming out of my throat.

“Do you know who placed the order?”

She checked her records.

“A Mr. Julian.”
