Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 07

Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 07

That evening, Grayson and I have dinner at the hotel restaurant while going over the details of the

int Pack meeting scheduled for the next day.

Halfway through the meal, the front desk suddenly calls.

“Beta Amelia, there’s an Alpha here asking to see you. Alpha Adrtán. He claims he’s your mate.

My knife stops halfway through cutting the steak.

My voice remains calm, “I don’t know him.”

The receptionist seems to repeat my words to someone on the other end. A moment later, she

sounds even more flustered.

“Beta Amelia, he insists on seeing you. And he says he is…”

I suddenly lose my appetite and give Grayson a look.

He immediately takes the phone from me.

“What are you people doing? Don’t you have security? We’re paying a fortune to stay at this hotel. Your job is to protect your guests’ privacy, not dump your problems on them. I’m filing a complaint. Right now.”

He hangs up and gives me a quick wink, “Done. I scared her off a little. She’ll stop calling.”

I wipe my mouth with a napkin and casually ask, “How much is this hotel per night?”

I happened to see the rates before.

Even a standard room costs six figures a night, and the presidential suite we’re staying in is obviously even more expensive.

“I honestly don’t know. The client booked it,” Grayson quickly explains. “Normally, we’re supposed to arrange our own hotel, but the client has money to burn. They canceled our original reservation and upgraded us to the presidential suite. I figured, if they’re paying, we might as well enjoy it…”

His voice gets quieter toward the end, clearly worried that I might question the arrangement.

But I stop listening.

My eyes remain fixed on the client information displayed on my phone.

Something about this feels wrong.

The Pack Council has already reviewed the contract, and there’s nothing unusual about it. Maybe I’m just overthinking things.

I don’t realize how right my instincts are until the next day.

I arrive at the café designated by the Alpha of the allied Pack, only to find Adrian sitting inside.

That’s when I understand.

The so-called allied Alpha is him.

I walk in calmly, take the seat across from him, and slide the contract toward him.

“Alpha Adrian, please review the contract one more time. If everything looks good, sign it.”

Adrian doesn’t even look at the contract.

He just stares at my face.

After a long moment, he finally looks away and pushes the expensive Bordeaux he has just poured

toward me.

“Not so fast.”

“Let’s sign the contract in a couple of days.”

The rich aroma of the wine slowly fills the space between us.

It’s the same wine I used to love.

I never expected him to remember after three years.

I simply reach out, push the glass back to the center of the table, and meet his

eyes.

“Alpha Adrian, everyone’s time is valuable.”

“If you’re not planning to sign today, then it sounds like our Packs have different goals. If we’re not

on the same page, there’s no reason to keep wasting each other’s time.”

Adrian’s expression stiffens for a moment before a bitter smile appears.

“You’re still as impatient as ever.”

The café falls quiet again, with only the faint sound of traffic coming through the windows.

Adrian lowers his head and slowly opens the contract.

He turns through the pages one by one, moving much more slowly than usual.

I know he’s deliberately dragging things out.

I simply don’t care enough to call him out.

About ten minutes later, he finally closes the contract and pulls a pen from inside his suit jacket.

“If I sign this, are you leaving?”

“Once you sign, Grayson will handle the Pack negotiations. I’ll leave that same day.”

There isn’t the slightest hesitation in my answer.

Adrian’s hand stops above the signature line.

But the pen never touches the paper.

“Amelia.”

His voice is rough.

“Three years. You never contacted me once. The money I sent you, the messages I left… did you ever read them?”

I say nothing.

The smile on his lips slowly turns bitter, “Why can’t you forgive me?”

“Amelia, people make mistakes. You do. I do. Just give me one chance. Please.”

“We’ve known each other for more than twenty years. Nothing can replace what we have. You know I’ve always loved you. I’ve always wanted to take care of you. I just…”

“Are you done?”

I cut him off without hesitation.

“This is a business meeting. I’m here as my Alpha’s representative. I’m not discussing personal

matters.”

“If Alpha Adrian has no intention of moving forward with the alliance, I’ll report back to my Alpha.”

I stand, pick up my bag, and turn toward the door.

But the moment I open it, I nearly walk straight into three people standing outside.
