Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 06

Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 06

The atmosphere in the room changes instantly.

The two girls exchange a look, and one of them lets out a mocking laugh.

“So you just had a fight with your fatnily and ran off to a hostel to play poor?”

“If it weren’t for that, ordinary wolves like us would never get the chance to meet a real heiress.”

The other girl joins in. “If you’re really that rich, why aren’t you staying at a five-star hotel? What are you doing here?”

I freeze for a moment.

The others say nothing more, but they quietly put more distance between us. Soon, they gather together again, chatting among themselves and completely leaving me out.

I have no energy to explain myself.

I finish putting my things away and lie back down on my bed.

My phone suddenly vibrates.

It’s Adrian.

[Tonight, we’re taking Phoebe to a pack’s charity event. Figure out your own dinner.]

A moment later, he sends me twenty dollars: [No application this time.]

Another message pops up almost immediately.

[When you’ve cooled off, come home. Stop pulling this runaway act. You’re not allowed to be this reckless anymore.]

I stare at those words for a few seconds.

Then I block his number.

Out of sight, out of mind.

I end up staying at that hostel for a long time.

It’s during those days that I finally understand the difference between genuine care and control disguised as concern.

By then, I have a little over eight hundred dollars left.

I don’t spend it on traveling.

Instead, I join a new Pack, Stormhowl Pack, and use what little money I have left to become an

apprentice at a tattoo shop.

After years of watching my father manage the Pack, I’ve picked up some basic knowledge about Pack management, business, and making money.

But with only a few hundred dollars in my pocket, there’s no way I can turn my life around overnight or earn the trust of a new Pack right away.

So I start from the bottom.

During the day, I train my strength and combat skills with the Pack warriors.

At night, after training ends, I head to the tattoo shop and practice my craft.

I’ve completely ruined clients’ tattoos before.

I’ve also had three ribs broken during a Beta Trial.

But I never go home.

And I never return to Starfall Pack.

Three years later, I finally own my own tattoo shop.

By then, I’ve also earned my place as the Beta of Stormhowl Pack through my own strength.

Throughout those three years, my family never stops looking for me.

I block every single one of their numbers and accounts. The only way they can still reach me is by sending money to my account with a message attached.

I take the money.

I never open the messages.

Until three years later, when I have no choice but to return to Northvale, a city near the territory of my old Pack.

Stormhowl Pack has already formed alliances with several neighboring Packs. This time, the Alpha

She carried his heir.

personally sends me as our representative to sign the official alliance and cooperation agreements.

The plane lands at the familiar airport.

I put on my sunglasses and walk out of the terminal.

As I look at the streets I once knew so well, I’m surprised by how unfamiliar they feel.

This place once held the most humiliating years of my life.

But now, those memories that used to hurt so badly feel like something that happened a lifetime

ago.

“Beta Amelia!”

A familiar voice comes from ahead.

My Gamma, Grayson, is standing outside the crowd, waving at me.

“This way!”

I walk over, and he immediately takes my luggage.

“The hotel is all set. The Alpha of the allied Pack has already prepared the conference room. They’re taking this alliance very seriously…”

He keeps talking as we walk.

I respond with an occasional hum.

Then my eyes land on a group of people in the distance.

The man at the front is wearing a black coat and talking on the phone.

Several assistants surround him, constantly handing him documents. He listens to the call while quickly signing papers, carrying the same unmistakable pressure of an Alpha.

As if he suddenly senses something, he looks up.

Our eyes meet across the crowd.

The man freezes.

The next second, his phone slips from his hand and crashes onto the ground.

Adrian.

Three years have passed, and he has clearly lost a lot of weight.

His face is sharper, his eyes are sunken, and the confident look he once carried is long gone.

He stares at me as if he can’t believe I’m really standing there.

He blinks several times.

Only after realizing that I’m not going to disappear does he suddenly shove the people around him aside and rush toward me.

I simply look away and pat Grayson on the shoulder.

“Let’s go. We’ll check into the hotel first.”

“Of course, Beta Amelia.”

I turn and walk toward the parking lot.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see several of Adrian’s men stop him.

“Alpha Adrian, you still need to sign this contract.”

He has no choice but to stop.

By the time he finishes dealing with the paperwork and looks up again, I’m already gone.
