Baldwin hadn’t even reached the airport when his phone lit up-Ursa was calling.

He stared at her name glowing on the screen, frustration knotting between his brows. Still, he swiped to answer. “What is it?”

“Alpha, I know where Florence is!”

There was a pause, then her voice softened. “But… could you come over to my place? It’s too complicated to explain over the phone.”

His grip on the phone tightened. In the next second, he spun around and grabbed his keys. “I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”

The lights of the villa burned harshly against the night sky.

The moment Baldwin stepped onto the front steps, Ursa rushed out and threw herself into his arms. Her perfume clung to him-too strong, too sweet. Instinctively, he flinched and stepped back. “You said you knew where Florence was,” he said coldly. “Start talking.”

He slowly pushed her away.

“Relax,” Ursa pouted.

“I had a friend look into it. Turns out, she’s in Hegreau, and she’s been spending time with a werewolf.”

The words made Baldwin’s heart jolt.

Hegreau. That was the exact lead the detective had mentioned. But this male werewolf? Who was he?

An old friend? A new suitor?

Countless questions came crashing down like a tidal wave.

He grabbed Ursa by the wrist, so tightly that she let out a yelp. “Do you know her exact location? The address?”

“Ouch! Alpha, what are you doing? You’re hurting me!”

Tears welled in her eyes and rolled freely down her cheeks. “I told you because I was worried about you …”

“Address!” Baldwin demanded, voice sharp. “Where is she exactly?”

The chandelier above them trembled slightly as his roar echoed through the hall.

Ursa stared at him, wide-eyed. “Why are you so desperate to find her?” she asked, voice trembling.

“Are you playing a game with me?” His voice was cold.

Ursa’s voice was trembling with tears; she asked, “You’re being so mean to me… is it because you don’t love me anymore?”

She stepped closer, choking back sobs. “Alpha, can you honestly say Florence means nothing to you?”

“Baldwin didn’t answer. His silence broke something in her. Ursa suddenly shoved him hard, sobbing louder.

“Say something! Are you guilty or what?!”

The room echoed with her cries-until suddenly, all fell silent.

Her phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor with a dull thud. Baldwin instinctively bent down to pick it up. The screen flickered to life, displaying a stream of messages that stopped him cold.

Dozens of texts filled the screen-every one of them vile, cruel insults directed at Florence.

His chest tightened as a wave of sweat broke across his skin. His hand trembled as he stared down at the messages.

It took him several minutes to summon the courage to open the conversation fully.

Most of the photos were of him and Ursa-laughing, cozy, posing on trips.

But the words … the words made his stomach churn.

“Florence, you may be his fated mate, but his heart has always belonged to me. I’m the only one he’s ever truly loved.”

“Florence, you pathetic mess-can’t you stop clinging to him? If I were you, I’d have smashed my head into a wall and killed myself.”

“Hey, bitch, if you’re going to kill yourself, at least do it right next time. Alpha’s tired of watching the same performance.”

Three years. Three long years of this poison.

Fury exploded in Baldwin’s chest. And then-another message caught his eye. A massive money transfer. The reply? “It’s done.”

The date? The same day Florence and Ursa had been kidnapped.

Now he saw it clearly-Ursa had paid actors to stage the whole thing.

His voice came low, trembling not from fear but from barely contained rage. “What else have you done behind my back, Ursa?”
