Alpha Begged, Luna Walked Chapter 06

Nova had stopped speaking to him. The silence in their home was deep and cold.

But with Eden, he was still Alpha, still the one she looked up to, the one she needed.

She came from nothing. Like him. That shared history tugged at something in his chest.

The first time he took her to a proper restaurant, she’d fumbled with the cutlery, terrified of being seen as less. He recognized that fear.

It was his own, years ago, when he’d worked three consecutive night shifts at the slaughterhouse just to afford one decent meal for Nova.

Candlelight. White tablecloth. His hands clumsy around the knife and fork.

“This is,thank you. For everything. For looking out for me.”

He hadn’t dared call it a date.

The love he carried then was too heavy, too undeserved. Calling himself her friend already felt like overreach.

Nova had looked at him across the table and laughed. Not cruel, warm, surprised. His ears burned, but he couldn’t look away from her smile.

Beautiful, he’d thought. She’s so beautiful.

Someday, he promised himself. When I have territory. When I’m worthy. I’ll bring her here again. I’ll pull out her chair. I’ll order her favorite dish, wild berry roast.

Now he had all of it—territory, status, wealth. But the quiet hunger for her company had drowned beneath obligations, grievances, the weight of her disappointment pressing down on both of them.

Distance would help. A breath. A reset.

When he returned from the hunt, maybe he’d take her to dinner again.

Like before.

It didn’t occur to him that she might no longer be there to share a table.

I thought I was dying. But I woke to white ceilings and a face I hadn’t seen in years.

Silas Stone.

My former betrothed. Silvermoon’s heir. We’d grown up together, our territories bound by treaty and our parents’ ambition—until he went to serve the Lycan King, and Magnus filled the space he’d left.

Time had sharpened him. His jaw was leaner, his shoulders broader. But his eyes, when they found mine, were exactly as I remembered.

He pulled me into his arms before I could speak. His voice shook.

“I thought I was too late. You were drowning in your own blood, if I’d been even a minute slower.”

I tried to smile. Everything hurt.

“You saved me. But how did you even get there?”

He released me reluctantly. “I came to visit your mother, her grave. She was kind to me, Nova. I never got to say goodbye.”

His jaw tightened. “I requested access to Blue Tide territory multiple times. Magnus refused every application. He was afraid I’d take you back.”

His gaze drifted to the window. When he spoke again, his voice had gone quiet, dangerous

“He didn’t deserve you. And he betrayed you anyway.”

I looked at him.

The betrothal had always felt like currency to me. A transaction between packs. I assumed he’d felt the same, obligated, reluctant.

But he said “take you back.”

Suddenly, I understood.

“That was Silvermoon’s decision,” I said. “Not yours.”

His head snapped toward me. “I was serving the King. They made that choice without my knowledge, without my consent.

By the time I returned, you were already his.” A pause, barely a breath. “So I stayed away. I thought, if you were happy.”

His voice broke. He steadied it.

“But you’re not. And I won’t stand by again.”

“Nova.” He inhaled slowly. “If you want to leave Blue Tide, I’ll take you anywhere. Somewhere his scent doesn’t reach. We’ll start over.”

He waited.

His hands were trembling.
