After Ten Years of Revenge, He Built Time Machine Bring Me Back Chapter 11

He was reborn.

Elowen was alive, Lila was alive, Dr. Hale still breathed.

There was still time to fix everything.

Silas didn’t waste a single second, sprinting straight toward the School Athletic Storage Wing.

When he burst through the door, a group of boys were hurling volleyballs straight at Elowen’s body,

slamming into her legs and stomach over and over again.

She curled tight into the corner, arms wrapped around her head to shield herself from the blows.

She grabbed a volleyball and hurled it hard straight into the lead bully’s face in a split second of desperation.

The boy flew into a blind rage, storming toward her with cleated sports shoes raised to stamp her delicate

arm beneath his sole.

Elowen backed into the wall with nowhere left to run, pure terror flooding her face.

A heavy boot crashed forward, sending the bully flying across the floor before he could touch her.

The boy spun around ready to snap at whoever had interfered-until he saw Silas standing over him. All his

rage vanished in an instant.

“We were just teaching that witch a lesson for you, Silas.”

“Get out of my sight, all of you,” Silas snarled.

The group scrambled away in a panic.

Silas stepped slowly toward the girl huddled in the corner.

His pupils blew wide at the sight of her.

Her pale legs, once flawless, were covered from knee to thigh in dark purple bruising beneath her prep

uniform skirt.

When she met his gaze, she flinched hard, shrinking deeper into the shadowed corner to hide.

“Elowen, I’m so sorry I’m late.” His throat tightened, thick with tears.

Elowen stared up at him in pure shock, unable to believe what she was hearing.

“What new torture are you planning to subject me to this time, Silas?”

Silas dropped to his knees and pulled her gently into his arms, breaking down into uncontrollable sobs.

“I’ll never hurt you again. No one will ever lay a hand on you for as long as I live.”

He held her tight, yet Elowen’s entire frame remained stiff and taut, convinced this was just another twisted game he’d crafted to torment her.

Silas noted every tremor, every flinch, his heart splitting open, but he didn’t push her away. He had all the time in the world to make amends and earn her forgiveness.

He walked straight to the school administration the next morning, announcing to every student and staff

member that Elowen was completely innocent of all accusations.

Elowen remained cautious, wary of every kind gesture he offered her for days afterward.

It wasn’t until several days later, when Dr. Hale was released from custody and came to pick her up from

campus, that she finally accepted Silas’s sincerity wasn’t another cruel trick.

Silas stood back, watching father and daughter embrace tightly, his eyes stinging with warm tears.

This second chance was a miracle. He could make everything right for her now.

“In this life, Elowen, I’ll give you every bit of happiness you deserve.”

He returned to Voss Manor that evening, and Julian’s palm flew straight for his face the moment he stepped

through the front door.

“You still cling to that girl who crippled my wife?”

Silas said nothing, simply lifted a hand to block his father’s second incoming blow, staring him down without

an ounce of fear.

“You know full well Elowen never pushed Mom down those stairs.”

Julian’s eyes widened in genuine shock.

“You wanted to see the scars I carve into my own wrists every time I hurt her, didn’t you?” Silas’s voice was

cold, unshakable.

“Keep scheming against her, and you’ll watch me carve every last inch of skin off my arms in front of you.”

He turned and left the manor before Julian could respond.

He walked straight to the Hale family’s small home minutes later.

Six-year-old Lila pulled open the front door, spotted Silas, and burst into tears before sprinting back inside to

her father and Lila.

“Dad, Elowen, the mean man’s here!”

Dr. Elias held Lila tight against his chest, standing beside Elowen as the two of them stared at Silas with

complex, guarded expressions.

Warm aromas of home-cooked food drifted out from the kitchen.

“What do you want now, Silas?” Elowen asked, voice sharp with wariness.

Without a single word, Silas knelt down to perform formal penance three times for Dr. Elias, Lila, and Elowen

each.

He begged for forgiveness openly and sincerely. Dr. Elias was gracious, lifting him back to his feet and

inviting him to stay for dinner.

Elowen silently fetched a set of silverware for him, and Lila poured him a glass of cold water.

Silas watched the small, loving family move around their kitchen, tears dripping straight into his dinner plate.

“You don’t need to carry this weight on your shoulders,” Elowen said, ladling broth into his bowl and sliding it

toward him.

“You’re only acting this remorseful to win our forgiveness, aren’t you?”

Her features soft, gentle as she spoke.

Silas reached out to take the soup bowl, their fingertips brushing. He jolted at how ice-cold her skin felt

beneath his touch.

“Elowen…”

Elowen’s faint smile turned cold and hollow all at once.

“Forgive you? How can we? We’re all already dead.”

A sharp crash echoed through the room as the ceramic bowl slipped from Silas’s grasp, shattering into countless jagged fragments across the floor.

The room spun wildly around him. Elowen, Dr. Elias, Lila’s faces all blotted with streaming blood, staring at him and screaming accusations of all his cruelty.

“No! That can’t be real. Elowen, Dr. Hale-you’re alive, right?”

He’d traveled back in time. He’d changed everything. How could they still be dead?

Silas shot upright in a violent jolt, a stabbing pain throbbing harshly across his bandaged wrists.

He stared blankly at the gauze wrapped tight around his arms, letting out a hollow, broken laugh thick with

despair.

It had only been a dream after all.
