After Six Miscarriages, I Carried Someone Else’s IVF Baby Chapter 05

At the same time, inside the hospital room, Dario had just glanced at the message that came in

when Chiara took his phone away.

“Caro Dario, my stomach feels awful. Make me a cup of hot tea, okay?”

Dario frowned, looking a little impatient.

“It looked like a message from Ann. Let me see it first.”

Chiara handed the phone back with a wounded look.

“Caro, Ann knows you treat me well, so she’s always been jealous. Behind your back, she often calls me terrible names. I know my marriage to Julian hurt her badly, but she only got targeted because she dressed so provocatively. Now that she’s dirty, she wants me dirty too. If she texted you to frame me or insult me, I’ll accept it. As long as she feels better, don’t fight with her because of me.

In the past, Dario had never felt anything wrong with those words.

But when he thought of my calm, water-still gaze from two days ago, panic suddenly rose inside

him.

He was about to argue when he saw Chiara turn her head away in tears.

Her hospital gown had slipped open just enough to reveal the crescent birthmark on her right

shoulder.

Dario’s expression softened immediately, and he coaxed her with pain in his eyes.

“Fine, fine. I won’t look. I’ll make your tea now. Lie down and rest.”

The moment Dario left, Chiara checked the phone.

When she saw my final message, her face darkened, and she quickly deleted it.

Just as she was about to exit, a blackmail message popped up.

[Dario, your wife and child are in my hands. Tonight at eight, one billion in ransom. If even one cent is missing, collect their bodies.]

Chiara had stayed by Dario’s side for years, so she recognized the number.

It belonged to Viktor Volkov, the leader of Dario’s rival gang.

She curled her lips in a cold smile and quickly replied.

[That broken woman isn’t worth a cent. I got tired of her a long time ago. Do whatever you When you’re done, throw her body into the sea and feed the fish. I don’t want her.]

She smiled smugly.

Thinking that I was now in Volkov’s hands and would not survive the night, she felt refreshed all

over.

As long as I died, no one would ever know who had truly saved Dario eight years ago,

Then she could continue pretending to be his savior and demand anything she wanted.

The thought delighted her so much she began humming.

Dario left the room intending to send a man to buy hot tea.

He happened to run into a nurse doing rounds and stopped her.

“My sister is pregnant and says her stomach hurts. She wants hot tea. Go make her a cup.”

The nurse looked at him as if he were absurd.

“Hot tea contains caffeine. Pregnant women are supposed to avoid it. You’re a man, so maybe you don’t know, but your sister is pregnant. Doesn’t she know that? Is she even really pregnant? She doesn’t know common sense?”

Dario froze.

Suspicion flickered in his heart.

He turned and walked back to the hospital room.

Just as he was about to push the door open, he heard Chiara’s smug laughter from inside.

“Marco, thank God you helped me fool him back then. That’s why Dario believed I was his savior. For all these years, he’s been devoted to paving the way for me and helping me become Mrs. Ashford.”

Through the gap in the door, Dario saw Marco pressing Chiara down on the bed.

Chiara not only did not resist, she looked fully pleased.

Dario stared at the scene in disbelief.

It was like a thunderbolt from a clear sky.

His breathing slowly grew heavier.

Marco’s laughter came through the door.

“So how are you going to repay me? I risked my life to lie for you. You know Boss’s temper. If he ever finds out the person who saved him eight years ago was actually Ann, and that he spent all these years hurting his real savior because of you, he’ll never let me go.”

“And to avenge you, after you two left that day, I hammered two bone-breaking nails into Ann’s

ankle.”

“Hahaha. Then won’t she have to spend the rest of her life as a cripple?”

The two of them laughed and flirted together.

The door was kicked open with a violent crash.
