After Six Miscarriages, I Carried Someone Else’s IVF Baby Chapter 04

Chiara gave a delicate cry of pain, tears hanging in her eyes as she looked at me.

“Donna Ann, I know I wronged you. I only wanted to apologize properly and bless you and my brother. Why did you hurt me like this? You know I just got pregnant.”

“No matter how much you hate me, the child is innocent.”

She held Dario’s hand and whispered under his shocked gaze, “Caro Dario, this child is…”

She lowered her eyes shyly and stopped speaking, but the meaning could not have been clearer.

Unexpectedly, Dario was not as excited as I thought he would be.

He only looked at her with an unreadable expression.

Marco spoke up indignantly.

“Boss, Donna Ann used the child she’s carrying to bully Miss Chiara. Not only did she curse Miss Chiara’s baby as a bastard and call her a whore, she even wished she’d give birth to bastards like a sow.”

“She tried to smash Miss Chiara with a rock. I stopped her, and then she used the baby in her belly to threaten me, saying I was hurting your child and that she’d make you kill me. I don’t mind suffering a little myself, but Miss Chiara is so kind. She can’t be bullied like this!”

Dario turned to look at me.

The red rage in his eyes told me that no matter how I explained, he would not believe me.

“Ann, Chiara saved my life. Have I told you before? Anyone who dares touch her, I won’t let them go. Not even if you’re my wife. Not even if you’re carrying my child.”

Carrying his child?

I trembled as I stood, then laughed with naked mockery.

“Dario, tell me. Is the child in my belly really yours?”

Dario’s expression froze.

After a flash of panic, he turned the accusation back on me with a guilty conscience.

“If it isn’t mine, whose do you want it to be? Marco, take her back and lock her up. No one lets her out without my order.”

With that, he carried Chiara away without looking back.

Marco crouched in front of me, holding two sharp steel nails.

His smile was dark.

“Ever heard of the bone-breaking nails we use in our world? It only takes one, and this foot of yours is finished for good. For the rest of your life, you’ll crawl on the floor like a dog.”

My eyes widened in horror, but he stepped hard on my foot.

Two bone-breaking nails were hammered into my ankle.

The pain tore through me, and I passed out completely.

When I woke again, two days had passed.

My phone was full of Chiara’s posts showing off a version of Dario I had never seen in three years.

The great mafia Don personally cooked for a woman, soaked her feet, and tied her hair.

He fed her bite by bite, and gifts piled up like a river across the entire background wall.

They walked through an amusement park, eating the same pastry, with so much love in their eyes it looked like honey stretching between them.

I swallowed my tears.

Dragging my legs through bone-deep pain, I pulled out the divorce papers I had prepared long ago, along with the medical report from the injuries I sustained after saving someone in Sicily eight years ago and a recording pen.

I placed them all in the most obvious spot.

Then I held onto the window frame and struggled to climb up.

Waves churned beneath the villa, and not far away, an unremarkable boat was already rowing close.

On my phone, Dario’s message arrived at that exact moment.

[Do you know what you did wrong now? As long as you publicly apologize to Chiara and beg for forgiveness, she’s willing to forgive you.]

[I already pleaded for you. Be obedient. Don’t make things hard for me.]

I replied, [My biggest mistake was saving a man in black who had been stabbed eight times at the Sicilian harbor eight years ago.]

I dropped the phone and leaped into the sea.

At that moment, the phone on the floor began vibrating like mad.
