After I Left, His Empire Collapsed Chapter 28

Footsteps. A group entered. Suits. Grim faces.

The lead was Sterling & Sterling’s Asia-Pacific representative. Middle-aged. Severe. A thick folder in his hand.

He sat without greeting. Dropped the contract on the table with a smack.

“We’re here per the agreement. Second-year design review. Project handover.”

Dylan slipped into his professional mask.

“Of course. We’re ready. Please—”

He turned to Sadie. Nodded for her to produce the documents.

She blinked. Blank.

“What designs?”

Silence filled the room. My soft laugh cut through the phone speaker.

This was their star talent? Too busy coasting to realize she had no actual work to show.

The Sterling & Sterling rep’s frown deepened. He flipped open the contract. Jabbed a finger at a clause.

“Your company committed to providing original designs annually. If you fail to deliver, we will pursue full contractual penalties.”

Sadie’s mouth twitched.

“Vanessa left. Nobody told me. Where exactly am I supposed to get new designs?”

The rep’s face darkened. He stared at Dylan.

“What is the meaning of this?”

“We made it clear from the start. We only accept original work from Vanessa Vance.”

“You think Sterling & Sterling Group can be fobbed off with garbage? You think you can swap in anyone and we’ll just sign?”

The temperature in the room dropped hard enough to frost the windows.

Dylan bowed. Apologized. Shot looks at Sadie to do the same.

She stayed frozen. Brain offline.
