After I Became The Perfect Husband, She Broke Down Chapter 05

“The person Nina saw delivering the cake this morning–it was me.”

“Elliot told me to put on Ethan’s clothes, wear a mask and a hat, and deliver the cake.”

“If I refused, he said he’d cut off my mother’s medical payments.”

“But… I didn’t know there were glass shards in that cake.”

“I didn’t know my actions would kill someone.”

“My conscience wouldn’t let me stay quiet, so I decided to tell you both the truth.”

“Mrs. Vaughn, whatever punishment you decide, I’ll accept it.”

“I don’t want to live the rest of my life drowning in guilt.”

The servant, pale–faced, pulled a voice recorder from her pocket.

“This is the recording of Elliot ordering me to do it.”

“I’m sorry, Ethan.”

The servant closed her eyes, unable to bear it.

Elliot’s arrogant voice came from the recorder:

“Frame him? I’m Vivian’s childhood friend. I should be her husband!”

“Ethan stole my happiness. What right does he have to Vivian’s love?”

“Do exactly as I said. Don’t even think about defying me.”

“Otherwise, your mother won’t live past tonight!”

Nina’s mouth fell open in disbelief.

Her eyes were full of shock,

“Elliot did something like this?!”

Vivian’s clenched fists trembled slightly.

Her face was terrifyingly dark.

Suddenly, she remembered the last disappointed words I’d left before jumping.

“Vivian, you’re pathetic. You can’t even tell right from wrong.”

“My sincerity was wasted on you.”

So you knew all along.

Vivian’s heart twisted hard.

The fury inside her wouldn’t stop.

There was only one thought in her head now: find Elliot and demand answers.

As luck would have it, Vivian had just walked down the hallway when she ran straight into Elliot.

Seeing her, Elliot suppressed the joy in his eyes and hurried over.

“Vivian, there you are. I was so worried.”

He didn’t notice her dark expression and kept talking.

“I know you’re loyal and it’s hard to lose a husband.”

“But people have to look forward. If you really need a husband, I could do it…”

With that, Elliot blushed and reached to pull Vivian into his arms.

A slap came out of nowhere.

Elliot covered his burning cheek, staring at Vivian in disbelief.

“You… you hit me?”

Vivian put one hand in her pocket and tossed the voice recorder onto the floor.

With every sentence that played, Elliot’s face went paler.

“Those… those recordings are fake!”

“I never did any of that!”

Seeing him deny it to the end, Vivian let out a cold, disappointed laugh.

Just then, Nina came running over with the servant.

The moment Elliot saw the servant, the shock in his eyes turned to fury.

“So it was you, you idiot, who exposed me!”

“I’ll kill you!”

He lunged at the servant, but Vivian grabbed him.

Her eyes were full of bitter disappointment.

“Elliot, why did you do this? Everyone gave you their love.”

“What more could you possibly want?”

“Why did you have to frame Ethan?”

Elliot was stunned into silence. His voice came out choked.

“Gave me all their love? If you really loved me, why did you marry him?”

“Why did you have a child with him?”

“I was your childhood friend. I should have been your husband!”

“He ruined everything between us!”

Vivian stiffened, then frowned and spoke coldly.

“Elliot, I’ve only ever seen you as a friend.”

“I favored you and cared about you, but I never had any romantic feelings for you.”

“Even without Ethan, I would never have married you.”

Elliot’s sobbing stopped short.

The woman who had just forced me to eat a cake full of glass shards for his sake was now saying, word for word, that she didn’t love him.

Several police officers walked over and held up their badges.

“We’re from the police department. Who called 911?”

Nina suddenly raised her hand and pointed at Elliot.

“I did. I’m reporting him for threatening someone and hurting my dad.”

The officer walked up to Elliot and said coldly,

“Come with us.”
