After His Amnesia, I Severed Our Mate Bond Chapter 09

After His Amnesia, I Severed Our Mate Bond Chapter 09

I slung my backpack over my shoulder and boarded the train, eager to begin my journey The scenery of the Scottish Highlands unfolded before me, its rugged beauty unlike anything I’d ever experienced in the Silver Moon Pack’s territory. The crisp air carried the scent of pine and earth, a stark contrast to the familiar floral notes of home. As the train rumbled forward, my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Evander.

“Alpha,” I answered, my voice clipped and formal, though the title felt bitter on my tongue. “What do you want?”

“Nalani,” his deep voice carried the weight of his Alpha tone, though it lacked its usual command. “Are you around? I’d like to see you ”

I stiffened, clutching the phone tighter. “Why? Our bond is severed. The separation papers are signed. There’s nothing left to discuss”

“I’ve remembered some things,” he said, his voice quieter now, almost hesitant. “In those memories, I had feelings for you.”

A bitter laugh escaped me. “Feelings? Even if you had feelings for me, Alpha, you clearly have someone you care for even more, don’t you? Was your idea of ‘love‘ treating me like some kind of Omega servant?”

“It’s not like that,” he said, though his words lacked conviction.

“Then explain why, in all those years as your Luna, you, with your culinary talents, never once cooked for me. Not even a simple meal. Why couldn’t you remember our mating anniversaries, let alone celebrate them with me, while you managed to throw a grand celebration for Zayla’s divorce? Evander, this is absurd. I sincerely hope you and Zayla bond officially so you don’t destroy anyone else’s life.”

“My relationship with Zayla isn’t what you think it is,” he insisted, his voice tight.

I finally snapped, my wolf stirring in the back of my mind, a low growl of frustration. “Not what I think? Then what is it, Alpha? Can you honestly say you didn’t fly overseas to see her during those years? That you didn’t send her birthday gifts every year? That you didn’t lie to me about pack meetings just so you could have dinner and catch a movie with her? Evander, I kept quiet because I didn’t want to stir the pack’s waters. Did you really think I was oblivious?”

I hung up before he could respond, resisting the urge to smash my phone against the train window. They’re both shameless jerks.

For an entire month, I had dug into their affair, piecing together every deceitful move. I had trusted Evander too much, never imagining that lying to me came so easily to the Alpha I once thought I knew. When I scrolled through Zayla’s Instagram and found every photo lined up with his stories, I wanted nothing more than to tear them apart, to howl my rage to the moon. But I held back, biding my time.

Now, what right does Evander have to call me and talk about feelings? Is that how you treat your mate, your Luna, by walking all over her? I thought bitterly, my wolf snarling in agreement.

As the train carried me further into the Highlands, I focused on the scenery, trying to drown out the echoes of his voice. I had a new life

to build, a den to make my own. And no Alpha, no matter how commanding, would take that from me.
