After 28 Lockouts, I Finally Locked Him Out Chapter 19

After 28 Lockouts, I Finally Locked Him Out Chapter 19

It felt as if I had finally woken from a very long nightmare.

The next day, I hired the best divorce law firm in San Francisco and handed everything over to them.

My instructions were simple.

Fast. Clean. And protect all of Maya’s rights.

After I hung up, my father handed me a cup of coffee.

“Did you sleep well?”

“Very well.”

I looked out the window at the endless rows of grapevines, and for the first time in years, the knot of tension in my chest truly loosened.

My father sat down across from me and pushed a folder toward me.

“I was afraid you’d start overthinking things with nothing to do. The family foundation is planning a new sub-fund focused on education for women and children. It has an impact investing structure. I want you to run it.”

I opened the folder.

Inside was the preliminary project plan, along with target schools and budget models.

As my fingers moved over the familiar terms, I realized I hadn’t lost my passion.

In Boston, my expertise had always been in service to others.

Here, I could use it for something I wanted to do. I could use it for more girls like Maya.

I thought my new life would begin slowly, just like this.
