Addicted to Captive Love The Mafia Godfather’s Substitute Heiress Chapter 02

Celandine’s POV

When I reached the foyer, I ran straight into Casimir.

He wore gold-rimmed glasses and a tailored suit, with broad shoulders and long legs.

He was holding a medical file, and I caught a glimpse of a stark red seal on the cover: WYNN FAMILY — EYES ONLY.

Could it be Thierry’s medical record?

“Heading to school?” He picked up my bag with one hand. “I’m going to the hospital. I’ll drop you off on the way.”

Sitting inside the black Lincoln Navigator, I watched the sycamores lining the road blur past. The bulletproof glass was so thick that I could barely make out the pedestrians outside.

Trying to sound casual, I asked, “Casimir, what illness does Thierry actually have?”

When I was little, I had always clung to Thierry.

But the year I came of age, twenty-three-year-old Thierry was diagnosed with a “rare condition” and began spending most of his time away from home.

I had asked about it several times, but everyone brushed me off.

The whole family treated it like a forbidden subject.

Casimir drove with one hand on the wheel, his tone careless.

“That’s Thierry’s privacy. When he comes back, ask him yourself.”

“I have no idea where he went. He won’t even answer my calls.”

I murmured, “Mm,” while clutching the hem of my dress and sneaking a look at him.

Casimir was the smartest person in the Wynn family. He had started college at fifteen, earned his M.D. at twenty, and was now the family’s Consigliere and chief physician. He also handled every off-the-books operation the family could never put in writing.

I had been afraid of him since I was a child, and I was afraid of him now.

Casimir lowered his gaze until it met mine.

His eyes curved faintly at the corners.

Behind his lenses, his gaze felt like an X-ray, as if it could see straight through my secret.

He said softly, “Could he have been kidnapped?”

“Thierry served in the Marines. The only person who could take him would have to be someone on the inside.”

“For example, it could be the family member he trusted most.”

I shot upright, and the seat belt dug into my neck.

Casimir raised an eyebrow. “It was only a theory. Why are you so worked up?”

My heart hammered as I forced out a stiff laugh. “Who would dare lay a hand on Thierry?”

Casimir turned the wheel, his tone casual.

“I’ll drop you off at school first, then head to the medical center.”

“Lately, we’ve been working with the Italian Mafia’s Corleone family. Together, we built a specialized detention room and developed a batch of custom restraints. They’re extremely light, but not even an elephant could break them. They’re stored in the warehouse behind the hospital. We tested them last month while dealing with three traitors, and the results were excellent.”

I sensed the threat buried beneath Casimir’s words and turned to look at him.

Casimir kept his eyes on the road, a faint smile hidden behind his lenses as he repeated, “In the warehouse behind the medical center.”

Nervously, I tugged at the edge of my skirt and did not answer him.

The car stopped at the school gates.

Silence fell inside the car.

I took a deep breath. “I have a seminar tonight, so I’m staying in the dorm. I won’t be going home.”

Casimir let out a drawn-out, “Oh.”

Then he said, “Pace yourself.”

When he saw my blank look, his eyes curved with amusement.

“I meant late nights take a toll, Principessa.”

Then, before I could react, Casimir drove away.

That night, I did not go to the seminar.

First, I went to the hospital warehouse. Then I bought a few things at a convenience store. Finally, I took a cab to the Long Island safe house Papa had given me.

It had been their coming-of-age gift to me.

“Our Principessa is all grown up now. She’ll have secrets of her own.”

“If you’re ever unhappy, you can come here to clear your head.”

There really was a secret hidden here.

But they would never imagine the man hidden there was the future Don of the Wynn family.

I made my way down and entered the basement.

After taking a deep breath, I unlocked the door.

Then I called into the room.

“Thierry.”
