Abandoned by My Alpha and Pup, Now their Rival’s Luna Chapter 04

Blood Cliff
Blood rushes straight to my head.

“Auntie Serena said so! She said she stays in the best room at the healing center, burning through the Alpha’s resources when she can’t even shift anymore. She’s just a waste of pack funds—”

“Say that again.”

My voice drops to a lethal, guttural octave.

I don’t even recognize the feral sound coming from my own throat.

Leo shrinks back, intimidated by my sudden shift in demeanor. He bites his lip, but then puffs out his chest, emboldened by his Alpha blood. “She’s just a money-burning old cripple! So wha—Ah!”

I shove him.

He trips over his own boots and lands hard on his backside.

He freezes for a split second before bursting into loud, dramatic wails.

“Dad! Dad!”

I stand frozen, my palms completely numb.

Staring at Leo kicking his legs on the floor, the words “money-burning old cripple” echo endlessly in my mind.

That “cripple” is my mother. His own grandmother.

The same she-wolf who, right after surviving the brutal rogue attack that crippled her, stayed awake for days just to weave a protective blanket from her own shed winter fur for his one-month celebration.

The same she-wolf who begged the pack healers every single year on his birthday to pass on her blessing to her precious grandson.

And he calls her a money-burning old cripple!

The jagged edges of the shattered moonstone dig deep into my palm, drawing blood.

The sharp sting of pain brings me back to reality.

Alpha Grayson bursts into the shed. Seeing Leo crying on the floor, he immediately scoops him into his arms.

“Leo, what happened?”

Leo buries his face in Grayson’s neck, sobbing uncontrollably. “Dad, she pushed me! Kick her out! I want Auntie Serena…”

Grayson holds him tight and glares at me.

His golden eyes are filled with icy disdain. “Maeve, have you completely lost your mind? Attacking your own pup?”

“I didn’t attack him,” I say, my voice eerily quiet. “I just shoved him.”

“Is there a difference?” he growls.

I look down at the blood-stained shards of moonstone in my hand.

“Yes,” I reply, my tone dead. “Attacking him would be me disciplining him as his mother. Shoving him means he simply got what he deserved.”
