A Ceremony, A Ghost, And A Lost Wolf Pup Chapter 06

A Ceremony, A Ghost, And A Lost Wolf Pup Chapter 06

Propped up against the hospital bed, my mind slowly cleared.

I turned to Brianna.

“Help me pack up the medical records and the miscarriage report. Send them to Aaron.”

“Tell him I’m giving him back his Summer.”

Brianna hesitated for a long moment.

Then she finally asked the question she’d been holding back.

“Do you want me to put the pup’s ashes in there too?”

My chest tightened. Tears immediately spilled down my face.

“No. I just want Aaron to know that he killed our pup.”

“As for the pup… I want him to rest in peace.”

After Aaron received my “gift box,” I heard he locked himself inside the pack house for an entire week.

The truth was, Aaron had loved our pup.

The day he learned I was pregnant, he picked me up and spun me around several times.

He talked endlessly about the future.

“I’m going to teach our pup how to jump, run, and shift myself.”

Then he’d grin and say, “I’m raising our pup to become the greatest

Alpha heir on the entire continent.”

In the early stages of my pregnancy, I couldn’t stop throwing up.

Aaron had never stepped foot in a kitchen before.

Yet he spent hours learning from the pack house staff and personally prepared meals for me.

Later, when my belly began to grow, he took me on walks every day.

“I heard walking more makes labor less painful.”

I used to laugh at him.

“How do you know all this?”

He’d pull me into his arms and smile.

“Di, the fact that you’re willing to have my pup means you love me deeply.”

“I’ll be good to you for the rest of my life.”

Turns out “forever” was a lot shorter than I thought.

So short that the moment Juliet returned, it ended.

A week later, Aaron came to Brianna’s house.

Brianna opened the bedroom door and let him see me.

I lay in bed, pale and hollow. As if my soul had been drained from my body.

Aaron stared at me. He opened his mouth, but no words came.

He kept taking deep breaths, the muscles in his jaw working.

After a long moment, he finally spoke, his voice trembling.

“Diana. I’m sorry.”

“That day…” He drew a sharp breath. “I really didn’t know it would lead to a miscarriage.”

I stared directly at him.

Then exposed his lie piece by piece.

“No. You saw it.”

“The blood stained my dress red.”

“You just chose to look away because you were in such a hurry to go to your precious true love.”

“Yeah, I saw it.” He covered his eyes in pain. “But I didn’t know it was that serious.”

“I thought you were trying to stop me from leaving.”

A bitter laugh escaped me.

“Well, you don’t have to worry about that anymore.”

“Tomorrow I’ll send you the mate bond termination papers.”

He whipped his head toward me. Disbelief filled his eyes.

“You’re really in that much of a hurry?”

I nodded. “Aaron Cooper. I, Diana Thompson, reject you as my mate.”

The moment the words left my mouth, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

But Fiona, my inner wolf, gasped.

The pain of a broken mate bond was unbearable.

It tore through every part of her.

Even though she no longer cared about him, the severing of the bond still struck with devastating force.

As for Aaron—he froze, utterly paralyzed.

It felt as though a silver blade had split his heart open.

Sweat poured down his forehead in thick drops.

He clenched his fists so tight his knuckles went white, every muscle straining just to keep him on his feet.

Inside him, his wolf threw back its head and howled.

My mate! I’ll never have her again!

The pain—it’s unbearable!

Aaron, you fool! You’ve destroyed us!

I ignored him completely.

Instead, I glanced at Brianna. She got it right away.

She rushed to the door and yanked it open.

“Get the hell out!”
