Ivy was a little different from what I had imagined.

She looked soft-featured and innocent, with a pair of glasses perched on her nose.

Even in business attire, she looked like a college student fresh out of school.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”

Ivy hurriedly bent down to pick up the pastry box from the floor.

Unfortunately, the pastries had been crushed inside the box.

Seeing that, Ivy looked like she was about to cry.

“Mrs. Hartwell, I’m so sorry…”

Before I could say anything, the comments went crazy.

[Ivy didn’t do it on purpose. Vivian isn’t going to make a scene, is she?]

[The pastries spilled, so what? Julian doesn’t even like sweets.]

[Even if they hadn’t spilled, Julian wouldn’t have eaten a single bite.]

[Does Vivian think she’s better than Ivy?]

[She’s been Mrs. Hartwell for three years and forgot where she came from?]

The comments really knew how to stir up trouble.

Ivy and I had only just met.

Before we even understood each other, we shouldn’t turn each other into enemies.

I ignored the comments and said to Ivy, “It’s fine. Please throw the pastries away for me.”

Ivy glanced at the pastries with obvious pity.

“Such pretty pastries. What a shame.”

An executive assistant came to lead me into the CEO’s office.

“Mrs. Hartwell, Mr. Hartwell and Russ Ludlow are inside. I’ll take you in.”

The comments appeared.

[Vivian actually didn’t give Ivy a hard time just now. She’s pretending, right?]

[Russ Ludlow is the divorce attorney Julian hired.]

[No matter what, this divorce is basically set in stone.]

I walked into the CEO’s office.

Sure enough, Julian and Russ Ludlow were discussing the divorce papers.

Julian deliberately glanced at my hands.

He looked as if he was expecting something.

When he realized I was empty-handed, he quietly looked away.

He said to Russ, “Russ, give my wife and me a moment. Wait outside.”

“Of course, Mr. Hartwell.”

Russ stood and brushed past me on his way out.

Only Julian and I were left in the CEO’s office.

He spoke slowly.

“Vivian, are you here to discuss the divorce?”

My eyes landed on the two copies of the divorce papers on the desk.

“You already drafted the divorce papers?”

I picked up one copy and quickly flipped through it.

The agreement had already been fully prepared.

Even if I said I didn’t want to divorce, I would probably only be humiliating myself.

Judging by the terms in the divorce papers, if we divorced, the assets I would receive filled two whole pages.

I searched carefully.

The only things missing were Sterling Mountain Preserve and the lab.

Those were what I wanted most.

Without thinking, I blurted, “Why isn’t there…”

Julian lifted his eyes and finished for me.

“The thing you want most isn’t in there, is it?”

I nodded.

“No, it isn’t.”

A flicker of hope flashed in Julian’s eyes.

“Vivian, what do you want most?”

“What I want most…”

I was about to say that what I wanted most was the lab.

But just as the words reached my lips, I suddenly snapped to my senses.

I couldn’t say that.

If I said the thing I wanted most was the lab, Julian would definitely be disappointed.

The comments were practically crying with anxiety.

[Say it already.]

[Are the words “the lab” that hard to say?]

[As long as you say it, he’ll give it to you.]

[You get what you want, give Julian back to Ivy, and everybody’s happy. Isn’t that good?]

Deep down, I knew exactly why I had come.

I had come here today to win him back.

I didn’t want to divorce Julian, and it wasn’t just because he had given me a preserve and a lab.

I truly believed he was a very good partner.

So I changed course at the last second.

“Julian, what I want most… is you.”
