She Hijacked My Wedding in White? Meet the Real Vesper Behind the Veil! Chapter 08

Adrian waited outside Maison Vespera for three whole days, but he never managed to catch

a glimpse of me.

By the time he burst into my office, most of the lily-of-the-valley bouquet in his hand had

already fallen apart.

“Evelyn, let’s talk.”

Ignoring the security guard’s attempts to stop him, he stared at me with a look of pure

desperation in his eyes.

“I know you’re upset, and I’m sorry. I was a jerk that day; I didn’t consider your feelings.”

“But you know how Mia is-she’s just spoiled and has a temper. I’ve just gotten used to it

over the years, but now I realize it, and I really won’t do it anymore.”

I looked up at him.

“Adrian, Mia is twenty-six. How could she not know what to wear or how to behave at

someone else’s wedding?”

“Would your sister get drunk on the night of your engagement and call you, crying until the

wee hours of the morning?”

“Would you really drive another woman to the airport to pick up her cat while your fiancée is

writhing in pain and breaking out in a cold sweat?”

Adrian’s face paled.

“I didn’t handle it well. But now I understand, and I won’t let her do it in the future…”

“There’s no future.”

I interrupted him.

“Whether there’s anything between you and her doesn’t matter to me anymore. Please go

home.”

He didn’t move.

“Evelyn, we spent three years together, how could you be so heartless?”

I laughed.

“Adrian, when you kissed her at the wedding, drank the ceremonial cup of wine together, and

introduced her to your parents and all the important elders, did you ever think about the three

years we spent together?”

He opened his mouth but didn’t make a sound.

Just then, the assistant knocked and came in.

“Chairman Sterling, Mrs. Cross is downstairs and would like to see you.”

Adrian spun around.

“My mom?”

I nodded.

“Let her come up.”

When Mrs. Cross entered, she first cast a reproachful glance at Adrian.

“Evelyn, Mia’s a bit immature, but she’s young-young people are bound to make mistakes

sometimes.”

She pushed the box toward me.

Inside was the family heirloom bracelet.

“You and Adrian have been together for so many years-it’s not something you can just walk

away from. I’ve seen everything you’ve done for him.”

“Mrs. Cross.”

I interrupted her softly.

“My feelings and love were destroyed the moment you guys humiliated me at the wedding.”

She finally lost her composure.

“Evelyn, that’s really harsh!”

“Mom!”

Adrian interrupted her sharply.

“It’s not Evelyn’s fault. You’re tired; go home first. I’ll handle this myself.”

He had finally learned to take my side.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

After Mrs. Cross left, Adrian was still standing there.

It was as if he had made up his mind.

“Evelyn, I’ll bring Mia here so she can apologize to you. Let’s talk this out face to face. I

promise I’ll never contact her again.”

“No, thank you.”

“If you’d stuck to that ‘brotherhood’ thing, I might have had a modicum of respect for your

self-deception. But the way things are now, it just looks like a joke.”

I looked at him.

“Adrian, one of you is selfish, and the other is playing dumb. One of you enjoys the ambiguity

and doesn’t want to take responsibility, while the other crosses the line under the guise of

friendship.”

“You two actually make a pretty good couple.”

“Please continue to love and support one another, and stick with each other through thick

and thin.”

I walked to the door and turned around.

“Stop coming out here and grossing people out.”

The next day, a new sign appeared at the entrance to the Maison Vespera building.

Gold lettering on a black background, clear as day.

No dogs or Adrian Cross allowed.
