He Made A Fool Of Me On April Fools, So I Married Another Man Chapter 06

Liam staggered. “This can’t be.” His eyes were bloodshot. “Joy’s my girl. How could you?”

Skyler steadied him. “Bro, calm down. She lost her ID. She couldn’t get a license.”

“It must be a trick.” Liam suddenly thought of something. “Right-her ID is gone. There’s no way she could’ve gotten a

license.”

Ethan almost smiled. “I used other methods. The license is

real. I married her.”

Liam fixed his gaze on me. “Joy, tell me,what’s really going on? Did you really marry him?”

I nodded. “I told you yesterday. I went to the clerk’s office not for you- you just didn’t believe me.”

“Now I’m telling you-I’m Ethan’s wife. Your aunt. Please mind your manners from now on.”

“Aunt? Heh.” Liam scoffed. “What aunt? You’re my girlfriend.

You’re mine.”

He lunged to grab me, but Ethan kicked him away. “Liam, that’s enough. You know what you’ve done. What gives you the right to question Joy?”

Ethan took me away. Liam tried to chase, but Ethan’s personal security detail blocked him.

After that, I moved into Ethan’s private estate in the hills.

Liam visited a few times, but the guards at the gate stopped

100.00%

him every time-he couldn’t see me at all.

Unexpectedly, he slipped in when Ethan went to the company.

I was startled to see him in a janitor’s uniform.

He looked thinner, unshaven, totally out of sorts.

When he saw me, he rushed over, delighted. “Joy, I finally

found you.”

“Did my uncle force you? Tell me you didn’t marry him willingly, right?”

I shook my head. “I married him willingly.”

Liam’s face fell. “Why?”

“You’re asking why? Years, Liam. My family pushed. You

stalled.”

“So I had to marry someone else.”

Liam grabbed my wrist, eyes desperate. “I never said no. Just two years. Couldn’t you wait?”

I sneered. “I’ve waited long enough, Liam.”

“If I really waited, would you have married me in two years?”

His eyes flickered with guilt. I laughed. “Liam, since you love freedom so much, I’ll set you free completely.”

“Why are you still clinging on? No one will ever force you to marry again. You’re free.”

Liam shook his head, voice trembling. “That’s not it, Joy. I love you-I just didn’t want to be tied down so soon.”

“But if you want to marry, let’s do it. Let’s go now.”

He pulled me, but I didn’t move.

He turned back, begging. “Joy, I’m begging you,I can’ live without you.”

“Even if marriage means no freedom, I’ll do it for you.”

“I won’t.”

I yanked my hand free. “Liam, I’m married. I’m your aunt

now. Your elder.”

“We ended when you joked about marrying me to make Skyler happy.”

“If you don’t leave, I’ll call the guards.”

Seeing I was serious, he smiled eerily. “Joy, I won’t let you

go.”

I turned to run,he suddenly pressed a rag over my mouth. A sharp, choking smell hit my nose. My head spun.

When I woke up, I was on a plane.

“Liam, where are you taking me?”

“This is kidnapping.”

Liam gripped my hand, gazing at me tenderly. “Joy, I just can’t lose you. I know you married Ethan on impulse.”

“Relax-I bought an island. We’ll live there, no one will bother

us.”

I struggled free. “Take me back. I don’t want to go to that

island.”

I couldn’t understand him. He hated marriage, feared being

trapped. Now he was the one forcing it. A madman.

“Liam, are you messed up? You refused to marry me, now I’m married, and you’re stealing me back.”

“You say you love me, but you ignored my pain while Skyler

humiliated me-slapped me.”

I glared at him. “Taking me to that island, won’t your bro get mad and stop being your bro?”

Liam laughed suddenly. “So you’re jealous of Skyler? Relax-

she hit you, you can hit her back when we get back.”

His men dragged over a bound Skyler.

He looked at her coldly. “Joy, you can deal with her however

you want. When we reach the island, if you don’t want to see her, just throw her in the sea. No one will know.”

Skyler shook her head wildly. “No, Liam, you’re crazy! I’m your bro!”

“You said bros before bitches. How can you hurt me for Joy?”

“She’s married. Can’t you wake up?”

Liam kicked her. “Shut up. What bro? If you hadn’t kept saying marriage means no freedom, I wouldn’t have lost Joy.”

“It’s all your fault. I could kill you.”

Skyler coughed up blood, sneering. “You gonna listen to me? You don’t have the balls to admit you weren’t sure about Joy. Now you blame me? Did I force you not to marry her? Did I force you to sleep with me?”

“You don’t blame me when you’re happy. Now Joy doesn’t want you, so you blame me. You’re shameless.’

Liam flew into a rage, slapping Skyler a dozen times.

“Shut up, shut up.”

Skyler’s teeth were loose. “Liam, this is your karma. Joy will

never forgive you.”

The sight scared me.

Liam’s the type, when he loves you, you’re gold; when he doesn’t, he’ll grind you into dirt.

Once, that was me. Now it’s Skyler.

Liam looked at me, full of regret. “Joy, forgive me this once. I

was just playing around-I love you truly.”

“Don’t worry. When we get to the island, it’ll just be you and me. No other women, okay?”

The plane landed fast. Liam was restrained as soon as we

touched down.

Ethan had guessed his plan. He got to Coral Cay first.

“Joy, are you okay?”

I shook my head. “I’m fine.”

Liam struggled, shouting. “Let me go! Joy is mine! Don’t leave

me!”

The guards punched him.

Ethan looked at him coldly. “Since you love Coral Cay so much,

stay there.”

Finally, Ethan removed the private jet and yacht.

He and Skyler were left on the island.

They’d eat and dress well, but they’d never leave that island. Wonder how those two broken brothers will get along.

When I got back, I had a long dream.

In it, Liam and I were always together, and not far behind, a

shadow watched.

Once, I fell into a lake,a tall figure pulled me out, voice gentle: “Don’t be afraid. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

That time I had a fever, I kept feeling a pair of hands holding mine, calming me.

I tried to open my eyes to see who it was-but I couldn’t.

When I finally woke, I saw Liam, so I assumed it was him.

This time, I forced my eyes open. Ethan.

Turns out the one who’d been silently guarding me all along

was him.
