Married to a Trap I Already Escaped Chapter 08

I thought my words would be enough to stop his harassment, but I underestimated how far Xavier

would go in his madness.

After that, he followed me around constantly.

He waited downstairs at my apartment every morning, holding the breakfast I used to like, and just

watched me get in the car from a distance.

When I got off work at night, his car would follow me all the way, not leaving until I walked into my

house.

My car broke down halfway on a rainy day.

Niels was on a business trip. I was just pulling out my phone to call a tow truck when Xavier’s car pulled up by the roadside.

He didn’t bring an umbrella; he ran through the downpour to knock on my window.

“Fran, the rain is too heavy. Let me drive you home.”

I rolled up the window tightly and watched him get soaked to the bone with cold indifference.

He showed no anger, standing stiffly in the rain.

The heavy rain washed over his face, and he stood there for a full hour.

Only when the tow truck arrived and I got into the passenger seat to leave did he turn back to his car

and continue following me.

I began to crush Xavier in every aspect of the business world.

I used the Dolan Group’s resources to steal big deals from him, cut off his cash flow, and even set traps to shut down his new projects and drive them into bankruptcy.

Everyone outside thought Xavier would fight back fiercely.

But he didn’t resist at all. Not only did he take it silently, he even cleared the way for my plans in

private.

Hubert came to see me. “Fran, stop.”

“Xavier is almost bankrupt because of you. He only sleeps two hours a day now, relying on sleeping

pills.”

“He knows he was wrong, and he’s been punished.”

I looked at him blankly.

“Punished? He’s only lost some money. What I lost were two lives!”

“If you feel sorry for him, Mr. Garrel, you can help him. But if you dare to interfere, the Dolan Group will take down the Garrel Group too.”

Hubert sighed and left.

The day Xavier went bankrupt and liquidated his assets. The court seized all his properties, and he was kicked out of the villa, left penniless.

That night, Niels and I were having dinner at a restaurant.

Niels pulled out a diamond ring and knelt down on one knee. “Fran, marry me.”

The surrounding diners all applauded.

I smiled and held out my left hand. Just as the ring was about to slip onto my finger, the restaurant’s glass door was slammed open.

Xavier stormed into the hall. His eyes were bloodshot, fixed on the diamond ring, his face

twitching.

“No!”

He rushed forward and pushed Niels aside, wrapping his arms around me tightly.

“Fran, don’t say yes! Please, don’t marry someone else!”

His grip was so tight it hurt my bones.

I pushed hard against his chest and slapped him hard across the face.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the restaurant.

Xavier’s head turned to the side, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

He turned back to look at me. “Good hit, Fran. Hit me again.”

“As long as you don’t marry him, you can beat me to death.”

Looking at his groveling, pitiful state, I felt only satisfaction

The arrogant and domineering, Xavier from my great life had finally met his end

“Xavier, what gives you the right to stop me?”

“You’re just a useless bum who can’t even afford a meal now.”

This sentence pierced his defenses precisely.

“Do you think putting on this affectionate act will move me?”

“Have you forgotten how you watched me die on the operating table in my past lifer

“Or how you had my blood drained and my kidney removed in this life? You don’t remember any c

Xavier turned as pale as a sheet. He trembled all over, stepping back and clutching his chest

“I haven’t forgotten… Pran, I’ve regretted it every single day.”

“I had Anne’s kidneys removed. She’s been tortured within an inch of her life. I’m avenging you

I let out a cold snort.

“So what? The harm is already done. Can this make up for it?”

I linked my arm through Niels’.

“%avier, I never loved you. Not in my past life, and even less in this one.”

“Seeing you like this only makes me sick. Get out of here.”
