The Villainess Filed for Divorce—Now the ML Wants Her Back! Chapter 09

Then she smiled again. “I’m here to drop off some files for Mr. Sterling.”

Clara reached for the files, but Chloe pulled them back.

She was definitely challenging me. “I’d rather hand them to him myself.”

Clara awkwardly pulled her hand back and looked at me. “Mrs. Sterling?”

I waved a hand. “If she wants to deliver them, let her. He’s upstairs.”

I turned, walked into the kitchen, poured myself a glass of water, and sat down on the couch to drink it.

Chloe looked a little surprised, then headed upstairs.

Less than a minute later, I heard rapid footsteps from above.

Damian’s voice came down.

“From now on, let Ethan handle this kind of thing. You don’t need to. Report to the project team tomorrow.”

“Mr. Sterling, 1-”

“Did you not understand me?”

“I understood.”

I sat on the couch enjoying the comments.

[Something’s off with the ML and FL’s storyline!]

[I don’t see the Male Lead showing any interest in her.]

[The FL is such a pick–me. It’s painful.]

[The FL looks furious right now!]

[So awkward…]

[And why is the Female Lead looking at the Villainess like that? I’m sensing serious bad vibes!]

Before Chloe left, she stared at me for a long time, like I was some kind of monster.

After she was gone, Damian sat down beside me. The moment he did, the air went heavy.

His voice was low. “You’re really that fine with another woman coming to find your husband?”

“She said it was work.”

Damian snorted coldly. “You’re so generous!”

I shot back, “Thank you!”

Clara had already set the food on the table. “Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, time to eat.”

But the moment I smelled the food, my stomach turned.

I ran to the bathroom and started throwing up

Damian followed me into the bathroom.

When he saw me heaving, he frowned and gently rubbed my back.

When I finally stopped, he asked, “Are you pregnant?”

At this point, there was no point hiding it.

I looked up at him. “So what? Like you get a say?”

Damian gave me a helpless look.

“You just love giving me a hard time. Why didn’t you tell me something like this?”

I splashed cold water on my face. “Didn’t you say you didn’t want kids?”

“I was worried about you. You’re still too immature.”

“Raising a child takes so much energy. I was afraid it would be too hard on you.”

“You’re calling me immature!”

“Is that the point?”

“How is it not?”

Damian pulled me into his arms. “Okay, stop. Easy there, tiger. Let me hold you.”

Listening to his steady heartbeat, I suddenly felt like crying for no reason.

The tears came before I could stop them, and it scared him.

“Why are you crying? I wasn’t even holding you that hard.”

“It’s all your fault. You left me alone at the hospital. Do you have any idea how scared I was?”

“I was wrong. It won’t happen again,”

Then I looked up at him. “Tell me. Did you settle for me because I was convenient? Would anyone else

have done?”

I bit my lip and looked at him, eyes welling up. His big hand stroked my back gently.

“Do you really think I’d just settle for anyone?”

I blinked at him, confused.

“My parents may have arranged the marriage, but I picked you.”

“You picked me?”

“Yeah.”

“Why?”

“Fool. Why do you think? Because I like you.”

He cleared his throat, a little embarrassed.

His face stayed calm, but I saw the tips of his ears slowly turn red.

I reached up to touch his ear, but he caught my hand.

He looked at me seriously. “What about you?”

I rolled my eyes, then looked at him. My finger slid from his throat down to his chest.

“You’re not bad to look at, I guess.”

Damian saw my sly smile and pinched my cheek, helpless.

“Then I’d better keep up my looks, in case someone says I’ve lost them.”
