His Ex Wore My Ring, So I Married His Rival Instead Chapter 06

The room fell silent.

Even Linda, who’d been struggling and shouting, froze.

“Brandon, isn’t that the richest man in the city? The chairman of Bennett Financial Group? What’s he doing here? And what did he mean? Why is he firing you? Why?”

My mother followed him, her nose red, her expression pained.

“You’re asking why?” She pulled me close. “You treated our only daughter this way, and you’re asking why?”

“She’s your daughter?”

The room erupted. Relatives rose from their seats and stepped back.

“Olivia Bennett is the daughter of the richest man in the city?”

“She’s the heiress to Bennett Financial Group?”

“No wonder Brandon got promoted so fast despite being so incompetent!”

“And Linda’s been bragging about how successful her son is. It turns out he only got where he is because of Olivia’s family!”

Several people approached my parents.

“Mr. Bennett, I saw it myself. Katie kept calling Vanessa her future sister-in-law. She was clearly

trying to humiliate Olivia!”

“Exactly. She called Vanessa that in front of everyone, and Brandon let her!”

“And Vanessa fell on her own, then accused Olivia of pushing her!”

“Linda and Katie were trying to drag Olivia to the hospital to force her to donate blood to Vanessa!”

Linda’s and Katie’s faces fell.

“That’s not what happened! How could Olivia be the heiress to Bennett Financial Group?”

“I didn’t know!”

Brandon panicked too. He staggered back a few steps, stammering my name.

As my parents listened, their expressions darkened.

“Brandon, if Olivia hadn’t insisted you were ambitious and begged me to hire you, you never would’ve set foot in my company!” my father said. “If you two had married, I’d planned to make you a director so Olivia wouldn’t have to settle for less!”

“But this is how you treat her? You think I’ll stand by and let you get away with it?”

My mother trembled with anger. “Thank goodness the $3 million in cash hasn’t arrived yet! Otherwise, your family would’ve gotten their hands on it!”

She turned away. “Tell the driver to take it to The Prescott Grand instead!”

“Three million dollars?” Linda broke free of the bodyguards and sank to the floor. “We’re not getting the $3 million wedding gift from her parents?”

She pointed at Katie and shouted, “This is all your fault! If you hadn’t insisted on inviting Vanessa because she was carrying Brandon’s baby and deserved to marry him, that money would already be

here!”

Katie burst into tears. “How was I supposed to know? You’re blaming me now, but didn’t you say Vanessa’s baby deserved parents who were married?”

Robert couldn’t take any more. He pointed at them and shouted, “How can you still stand here arguing? I told you this had nothing to do with Olivia and to let her go, but you wouldn’t listen. You brought this on yourselves!”

Brandon snapped out of his daze, pushed past the people in front of him, and went up to my father.

“Mr. Bennett, everything that happened today was a misunderstanding! I’ve apologized to Olivia! I didn’t mean any of it! Please give me another chance!”

My father ignored him. He waved the lobby manager over.

“Get me today’s security footage immediately. No one’s getting away with the false accusations or

the assault!”
