My Family Stole My Alpha, I Married Someone Stronger Chapter 07

Brianna lifted her head, her voice so gentle it was as if she were afraid of upsetting me.

“I don’t want anything. I just want to see your two children, meet your husband, and find out whether you’ve

been doing well all these years.”

“I’ve been doing just fine without you in my life,” I replied.

Brianna’s eyes reddened, and tears immediately spilled down her cheeks.

“How can you misunderstand me like this?”

Her voice gradually took on a subtle, almost imperceptible edge of manipulation.

“If I really wanted nothing to do with you, I could’ve ignored you completely. But you’re my own sister. How could I ever truly abandon you?”

“Do you know Nicholas has been badmouthing Andrew in front of the Alpha King and making things difficult

for him? He’s humiliated Andrew in front of other Alphas more times than I can count. Nicholas is the

powerful Lycan King, a man of such high status. How could he genuinely fall in love with the sister-in-law of

someone he hates? I’m just afraid you’ll get hurt.”

She wiped away her tears before adding, “If you don’t believe me, give me his contact information. I’ll ask him

myself and prove it to you.”

I finally understood her twisted logic.

She was afraid of anyone standing by my side and becoming someone I could rely on.

More than that, she was terrified that one day I would stop envying her life and looking up to everything she

had

“Brianna, I think you need to get your cause and effect straight.”

I looked her directly in the eyes, emphasizing every word.

“Nicholas makes things difficult for Andrew because of me. He didn’t choose to be with me because of

Andrew.”

“Our children are eight years old this year. They’re already in second grade.”

“And whether he loves me is none of your business. I don’t need you to prove anything.”

At three that afternoon, Andrew cornered me in a café near the Lycan school.

Looking at him, I was so furious that I actually laughed.

“Did you and your wife plan this out? Are you taking turns coming after me now?”

Andrew frowned. “What do you mean? Brianna came to see you?”

I couldn’t be bothered to answer.

He pulled out the chair across from me and sat down without waiting for an invitation.

“Katie, we need to talk.”

Before I could respond, he continued, “Are you and Nicholas really together?”

I picked up my iced coffee and took a sip, trying to suppress the irritation churning in my chest.

His question made me look at him impatiently.

“What does that have to do with you? And exactly who do you think you are to ask me that?”

I let out a cold laugh and continued.

“Or did you finally realize that I’ve been doing just fine without you? That I haven’t spent the past ten years

pining for you, the way you assumed I would? Have you suddenly started regretting your decision and

realized you might still be in love with me?”

Andrew fell silent.

He opened his mouth, but no words came out.

After a long pause, he finally spoke in a low voice.

“I thought… you’d always love me. I thought you’d never be able to move on.”

“I genuinely wanted to help you find someone, too. Derek may be a terrible person, but he’s someone I can

keep under control. As long as I’m around, he’ll have to treat you well.”

His words brought me right back to the blind date the day before.

No wonder Andrew had stood by and watched coldly while Derek humiliated me in front of everyone, occasionally shooting him warning looks.

He’d assumed a little pressure from him would be enough to make me accept the marriage.

Andrew’s expression grew dejected.

“I only wanted to force you to accept reality sooner because you were so resistant. If you and Derek ended

up together, I could finally make up for what I did to you all those years ago.”

For the first time, I couldn’t even summon the energy to mock him anymore.

Whatever love I’d once felt for him had been completely exhausted ten years ago.

“I think you know perfectly well that I don’t need you to make up for anything.”

“Yeah.” Andrew gave a bitter smile. “That’s just how you are. No matter where you go or what happens to you, you always seem to find a way to make your life work.”

Outside, the distant dismissal bell from the Lycan elementary school rang through the air.

I stood up and picked up my bag, suddenly remembering something.

“Andrew, I remember you told me before our engagement that you weren’t childfree by choice, right?”

He froze but didn’t answer.

I looked at him and continued.

“Before we got engaged, we both underwent fertility tests. The pack doctor confirmed that there was nothing

wrong with either of us.”

“Doesn’t that make you curious? Why did I react so strongly whenever you treated Brianna well back then?

And why, after ten whole years of being mated and having sealed your mate bond for so long, have you two

still never had children?”

Andrew’s face changed dramatically.

He jerked his head up, genuine panic flashing in his eyes for the first time.

“Why?”

Watching him finally realize that something was wrong, I curved my lips into a mocking smile.

“Go find out for yourself.”
