My New Life as a Rancher with a Hot Billionaire Husband Chapter 09

My New Life as a Rancher with a Hot Billionaire Husband Chapter 09

Peace never lasted long.

Just as Caleb started treating my ranch like his second home, settling in for the long haul….

Killian decided to show up.

Out of nowhere, he pulled whatever strings he needed, tracked me down, and brought trouble straight to my front gate.

That afternoon, I was in the kitchen experimenting with a new gourmet dish using our organic potatoes when

Lexi burst in, panicked.

“Miss Rhodes! There are cars outside. A lot of them. All luxury SUVs. They’re blocking the entire private

driveway!”

I grabbed a spatula and ran outside.

Three black Range Rovers led the way. In the middle sat a stretched Rolls-Royce.

The doors opened.

Four bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses stepped out first.

Then came a man I recognized instantly. A man who made my stomach twist.

Killian.

What the hell was he doing here?

And worse…

Standing beside him was his ethereal, picture-perfect first love, Vivienne.

I had the sudden urge to dig a hole and bury myself.

What kind of cosmic punishment was this?

My former sugar daddy, showing up at my ranch with his official girlfriend.

If Caleb saw this, I might as well kiss my reputation goodbye.

Killian scanned the surroundings, his expression darkening slightly.

“Brittany, you really went all out hiding. Even I had trouble finding this place.”

Then his gaze landed on me.

Apron. Spatula. Smelling like cooking oil.

He strode over, disbelief and something that looked suspiciously like pain flashing in his eyes.

“Brittany… this is how you’ve been living since you left me?”

His voice rose sharply, like I was out here begging on the streets.

I glanced back at my multi-million-dollar modern villa, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows and an infinity

pool.

Then back at him.

“Mr. Blackwood, do you have a misunderstanding about what ‘this kind of life’ means? This is a high-end

wellness ranch.”

“Drop the act.” He let out a cold laugh, utterly convinced of his own version of reality. “You think hiding out in

the middle of nowhere, pretending to ‘live simply,’ will make me feel sorry for you? Make me change my

mind? Brittany, this performance is over the top.”

I blinked.

Wow. His imagination really deserved an award.

“Mr. Blackwood, you’re overthinking this,” I said, trying to stay patient. “I’m doing great here. I make seven figures a year. I answer to no one. Why would I need to act?”

“Enough.” He cut me off, pulling out a card and slamming it onto my custom wooden table. “Ten million dollars. Come back with me. I’ll compensate you however you want. Except for the title of Mrs. Blackwood.”

I stared at the card and let out a cold laugh.

Once upon a time, I might have bowed my head for money.

Not anymore.

“Sorry, Mr. Blackwood. I’m the owner of Cloudrift Wellness Ranch now. Not your obedient little secret. Take your money, take your girlfriend, and kindly get off my property.”

Killian’s expression turned ice cold.

He clearly hadn’t expected this. The woman who once bent over backward for him, now rejecting him in front

of everyone.

“Brittany, don’t push your luck…” He stepped forward, reaching for my wrist.
