My Husband Wished for My Love, Then Got Bored in Year Seven Chapter 08

Thomas froze, then spun toward her. “You’re lying to me.”

Angela’s eyes glistened with tears. “I’m not. Only three specially marked One Wish Willows in the entire world can grant wishes.”

“Seven years ago, you bought one while drunk. On my birthday, I was lucky enough to get another.”

“How else do you explain Lucille suddenly falling in love with you? And how else could she forget you completely and stop loving you?”

“Please, wake up! You’re acting just as unhinged as Lucille used to be!”

To verify the truth, Thomas called Nadia. When she confirmed every word, he stood paralyzed, then erupted into wild, bitter laughter, striking his own face again and again.

“You think I’m pathetic, don’t you? I fell for her at first sight and chased her for years. Fate granted my greatest wish.”

“And I threw it all away.” His laugh was hollow, broken. “I brought this on myself. I deserve every bit of this pain!”

Terrified, Angela reached out to stop him, crying.

Thomas shoved her aside. He looked decades older all at once.

He kept shadowing us, and as he learned the full story of Joseph and me, he finally understood how deeply I had loved Joseph.

This time, he went to find Angela and forced her to tell him where to buy the One Wish Willow.

“She doesn’t love you.”

“Shut up!” Madness twisted Thomas’s features. “I’ll make another wish. She will fall for me once more. She will love me again!”

He lunged, seizing her throat with both hands. “This is all your fault, you witch. Give my wife back to me. Give Lucille back!”

Thomas hated Angela. He had uncovered evidence that she had a hand in starting the mansion fire, and he squeezed her neck without mercy.

“Die! You are the one who deserves to die!”

Angela slipped into unconsciousness in his grip.

The severe oxygen deprivation left her permanently brain-damaged, paralyzed and confined to a hospital bed.

Thomas never visited her once.

He sold every possession he owned and tracked down every One Wish Willow in existence, buying them all.

Sadly, none of them worked.

On my wedding day to Joseph, my phone rang. It was Thomas.

“Have you truly forgotten every single day of those seven years? You loved me enough to die for me. How could you just forget it all?”

“Lucille, what you’ve done to me is cruel. If I jump off this hotel roof, will you call off the wedding? Will you come find me?”

“You’ve lost your mind.”

Thomas let out a wild laugh.

At last he understood the insecurity and suspicion that had plagued me for seven long years. All that anxiety had come from love.

“I’m sorry. I chose the wrong way to love you.”

“If I’d given you security and affection, kept my distance from other women, you never would have fallen apart like that.”

“I wouldn’t have grown tired and driven you to jump off that building, would I?”

I moved to hang up, but he suddenly creamed, voice raw with panic.

“Lucille, I forbid you to marry him! Cancel the wedding right now!”

“I’m begging you, don’t leave me. I really will die. I’ll jump.”

Before I could reply, a deafening crash echoed through the phone.

Thomas’s voice grew faint and labored.

“It hurts so badly, Lucille.”

“It hurts…”

“Did you hurt this much back then? I’m sorry. I realized everything far too late…”

Thomas had jumped from the twelfth-floor hotel rooftop. He died on impact.

Clutched in his lifeless hand was our old wedding ring. The police contacted me through his friends and

asked me to claim his ashes.

I declined. A full day of wedding celebrations had left me worn out.

Joseph wanted nothing to do with it. He simply had the ashes dumped in a roadside ditch.

Wind chimes in the living room tinkled softly. I held our wedding photograph against my chest, unable to

hold back my tears.

“We lost seven years. We almost lost each other forever.”

Joseph wrapped his arms around me.

“We have a lifetime to fall in love all over again.”

“This time, no one will ever tear us apart.”
