My Husband Wished for My Love, Then Got Bored in Year Seven Chapter 06

I’d loved him so fiercely she would have died for him. How could anyone expect me to sleep after watching

him drive off with another woman?

White noise filled Thomas’s ears. Images of thick black smoke replayed in his mind. He clung desperately to

denial.

“She’s always been so delicate. Did she drop a cigarette? Pass out from the smoke? Did you take her to the

hospital?”

“I’m sorry, man.” Mason broke down completely, his voice cracking with sobs. “It wasn’t Lucille who started

the fire. I was drinking and smoking, and I accidentally set the whole mansion ablaze.”

“I chained her to a chair in the bedroom. I don’t know what happened to her. The building collapsed, and she

never got out.”

“What did you say?” Thomas froze on the spot.

Mason kept weeping over the phone. “Firefighters are putting out the flames now. It’s burned for hours. They

all say… they all say she didn’t make it.”

The phone slipped from Thomas’s hand and hit the ground, the screen spiderwebbing with cracks.

Eyes bloodshot, he stumbled forward in sheer panic, sprinting out of the resort.

“That can’t be true. She survived jumping off a building. She’s tough. A fire couldn’t kill her.”

“No, it can’t be. This must be another trick. She and Mason are lying to get me back. I’m going home. I need

to hear it from her own mouth!”

“Thomas!” Angela darted forward and blocked his path.

Listening to his frantic muttering, her voice turning bitter. “You’re being fooled. Lucille only faked her death to drag you back to her.”

“Get out of my way!” He shoved Angela so hard she hit the ground.

He had completely forgotten how close they had been only moments earlier.

When I woke up, I was alone in an unfamiliar room.

Before the mansion caved in that day, Joseph had arrived.

Everyone else had fled for their lives, but only he had wrapped a damp towel over his head and charged

through the smoke to reach me.

By some miracle, Mason had panicked and left the padlock key on the coffee table. Without that, I would

*Joseph?”

I walked downstairs searching for him and paused, captivated by the familiar decor all around me.

Back when I’d dreamed of marrying Joseph, I had sketched every detail of our future home.

I loved the soft hue of fresh grass, so every room was designed around shades of green and natural wood.

Delicate white lace curtains framed the windows, and shell wind chimes hung from every corner.

Woven wool carpets bore patterns of blooming gardens, with plush toys scattered across them like they

were playing in a meadow.

I had drawn a wide balcony, a swing set in the yard, a greenhouse bursting with white roses.

There were sketches of an outdoor kitchen and sunken bath, and one of Joseph making my favorite chicken

noodle soup.

I stepped out into the yard and lifted my gaze. There he stood, apron tied around his waist, stirring a pot of

chicken soup noodles for me.

“Hungry? Just wait a little-”

I threw myself into his arms before he finished speaking, my throat tight with tears. “Joseph, I’m home.”

Joseph never asked why I’d ended up with Thomas, nor did he blame me for vanishing without a word for

seven long years.

Just like seven years ago, he gently stroked my hair and held out his phone.

“Thomas has torn that burned mansion apart searching for you. Convinced you are still alive, he posted

missing-person notices all over the internet.”

“He treated you badly, yet you once loved him enough to die for him.”

“Now that you’ve woken up, do you…”

I saw the pain and longing in his eyes, and my heart ached alongside his.

“I have never loved Thomas.”

“He made a wish at the One Wish Willow to make me love him and forget you. Joseph, I don’t remember a single day of those seven years of marriage to him. I’m the same girl I was seven years ago.”

“My heart has always belonged to you. Don’t you want me anymore?”

I pressed against his chest just like I used to, holding him gently.

Joseph froze for several seconds, his voice trembling. “I do.”

He lifted his head suddenly. I followed his line of sight.

Thomas stood not far away, his face deathly pale, his eyes bright red, staring fixedly at me. He had heard

every word we exchanged clearly.

‘Come here.

When I didn’t move, he raced to the gate and shook it, shouting.

“Lucille, I told you to come over! What are you doing in another man’s house? Come with me right now, I’m

taking you home!”

“Do you hear me, Lucille!”
