He Asked for a Divorce, Then Begged Me to Marry Him Again After I Moved On Chapter 04

We finally secured our first major contract after rebirth.

Completing this project and collecting the final payment would elevate Bennett Technologies to its next stage of development.

It was a massive leap forward.

To ensure the signing went smoothly, Ethan and I planned to fly out together for negotiations.

Ethan brought Serena along on the business trip.

Because it coincided with Christmas, he wanted to take her to Disneyland.

As expected, the negotiations went very smoothly.

The contract signing was scheduled for Christmas afternoon.

Since Ethan was spending the day with Serena, I took my assistant to complete the deal.

At noon that day, a courier boy appeared at my hotel room door holding a bouquet of flowers.

“Hello, a gentleman named Mr. Hayes sent these to you.”

I froze.

Ethan actually remembered that my birthday fell on Christmas Day.

Holding the bouquet, I felt awkward and uncertain.

After all, given our current relationship, receiving flowers was sensitive.

As I was thinking, someone knocked on the door again.

It was Ethan.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, looking troubled.

“Sorry, the courier made a mistake.”

“I bought those flowers for Serena.”

I didn’t know what face to make.

I immediately handed the flowers back to him.

“I haven’t touched them. They shouldn’t be damaged.”

“You can check.”

Ethan stood there without taking a step back.

His throat moved, and he spoke in a low voice.

“It’s Christmas Day. All the nearby florists are fully booked. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come to ask you for them back.”

“If you really like them, I’ll buy you a bouquet tomorrow.”

“Between us, there’s no need to be stingy over a bunch of flowers.”

I did feel embarrassed for a brief moment over my own self-importance.

“It’s fine. As long as the misunderstanding is clear.”

“It’s almost time for the contract signing. I need to get ready.”

Ethan nodded. “Call me immediately if any issue pops up during the signing.”

“Okay.”
