Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 06

Reborn to Marry the Right Mafia Brother Chapter 06

The smile on Renzo’s face freezes for a moment.

But the second Lucien says, “One million,” Renzo immediately turns back, the anger in his eyes

instantly replaced by delight.

I still have no idea why Lucien suddenly changes his mind. Just as I am about to stop him, he glances at me and gives a slight shake of his head.

Don’t speak.

I can only swallow the words that are already on the tip of my tongue.

“Don Falcone, it seems you’re the one who really understands how business works.”

Renzo immediately puts on a smile before turning to me.

“Mrs. Falcone, I was out of line earlier. I didn’t realize who you were.”

Lucien has no interest in listening to any more of his flattery and simply has the lawyer bring in the

contract.

The deal is completed quickly.

After Renzo leaves, I finally can’t help asking, “That design isn’t worth a million. Why did you still pay him that much?”

Lucien walks over to the bar and pours himself a cup of coffee, looking as calm as if he has just closed the most ordinary deal in the world.

“You’ve got good instincts,” he says, “but you’re still looking at the wrong thing.”

He looks up at me.

“Renzo’s design isn’t worth much. I knew that from the beginning.”

“Then why buy it?”

“Because I’m not buying the design.”

He lifts his coffee, his tone casual.

“I’m buying his name, his contacts, and the market he’s already built.”

“His brand isn’t huge yet, but it already has a reputation in Europe’s underground firearms market

and a stable base of customers. Once the Falcone Family takes over and expands it with our capital and connections, we’ll make that million back soon enough.”

That is when it finally clicks.

Renzo is never really betting on the value of his design.

He is betting on whether Lucien will see the value of the market and connections behind him.

I really can learn a lot by staying at Lucien’s side.

But the next second, he suddenly says, “Still, I’m curious.”

Those gray-blue eyes settle on my face, sharp enough to seem as though they can see straight

through every secret I have.

“How did you know that design was worth so little?”

I give him an awkward smile.

“Lucky guess.”

Lucien studies me for several seconds but doesn’t press the matter.

Taking advantage of that, I say, “Lucien, I want to manage one of the Family’s subsidiaries.”

In my previous life, Dante has no real power in the Falcone Family and can give me nothing.

I have always wanted a career of my own. Only by keeping money and power in my own hands can I

stop depending on anyone else.

Lucien leans back in his chair and looks at me with an amused half-smile.

“You’re ambitious.”

Then he asks slowly, “Don’t tell me you’re planning to build up one of my companies, make enough

money, and then disappear with it.”

My heart skips a beat.

Damn it.

How is he better at seeing through people than I am, even when I can hear their thoughts?

For a moment, I am actually a little discouraged.

I guess some things really are talent.

“Of course not.” I deny it immediately. “I just want something to do.”

Lucien takes a sip of his coffee.

“Fine.”

“But before you touch the books of any company, you learn from me first.”

Over the next few days, I follow Lucien almost everywhere, visiting the companies, casinos, and legitimate businesses owned by the Falcone Family.

For the first time, I truly see how this man controls an entire empire.

Business negotiations, exchanges of interest, personal connections, even a seemingly casual sentence can determine who ultimately walks away with a deal.

Lucien never teaches me only how to make money.

He teaches me the rules.

A few days later, he even takes me to one of the finest Italian restaurants in New York.

The moment we walk inside, I see two familiar figures.

Simone is sitting beside Dante, cutting the steak on his plate for him.

When she sees Lucien and me, her hand immediately stops.

“Annette? What are you doing here?”

The moment the words leave her mouth, she realizes she has addressed me incorrectly and quickly

forces a smile.

“Don. Donna. You’re here for dinner too?”

The next second, I hear her thoughts.

[Damn it. Why do I have to run into her here of all places? I can’t let her see me like this.]

“Yeah.”

I smile and slip my arm through Lucien’s.

“Date night.”

Lucien doesn’t pull away.

Dante rises as well and walks over with a smile.

“Good evening, brother. Annette.”

Lucien doesn’t even spare him an extra glance. He simply takes me toward the table the server has

prepared for us.

When I look back, I see Simone standing there, her face so dark that she looks ready to grind her

teeth.

She probably can’t understand why the man she fears so much in her previous life hasn’t laid a

hand on me and even takes me out to dinner.

Later, I head to the restroom.

The moment I step outside, I see Simone waiting by the door.

The look in her eyes instantly reminds me of the way she looks at me in my previous life as she

drives that car straight toward me.

Exactly the same.

“Lucien must beat you up plenty when no one’s around, right?”

She sneers and looks me up and down.

“Why are you pretending to be happy in public? It’s disgusting.”

I don’t get angry. Instead, I deliberately let my gaze fall on her arm.

There are several obvious needle marks there.

“Simone, what happened to your arm?”

Her expression changes instantly, and she immediately covers it.

“None of your business.”

“This is between Dante and me.”

She lifts her chin, as if she is terrified I might not realize how happy she is.

“But I guess you wouldn’t understand. Lucien probably hasn’t even touched you yet, has he?”

“Dante is different. He’s all over me every day. Honestly, he’s starting to drive me crazy.”

I almost laugh.

Her life is clearly already a complete mess, yet she is still desperately clinging to the last scraps of her dignity.

I honestly don’t know how much longer she can keep pretending.

“That’s great, then.”

I smile at her.

“Im happy for you. Really.”

“I hope the two of you just keep getting happier.”

With that, I turn to leave.

The next second, Simone suddenly grabs me by the hair from behind.

“Bitch!”

She yanks me back violently.

“Are you mocking me?”
