My Husband Tried to Give His Fortune to His Secret Son, But He Forgot Our Prenup Chapter 08

The hospital room door opened again. Wendy walked in.

She wore a sharply tailored black suit, her long hair pulled back. There was a trace of my younger self in her

features, but she was sharper and more composed than I’d ever been.

She walked straight to my side and looked me over first.

Only after making sure I was all right did she turn toward Skyler.

“Hey, old man. Long time no see.”

“The clean-energy company I own, Diamond Energy, brought in four billion last year. This year, we’re

projected to break ten billion.”

“The company you’ve spent three months cursing as the one wrecking your business? That’s me. Surprised?”

Skyler’s face went completely white.

“You little bitch! You’re just as rotten as your mother!” His mother rushed forward and pointed at Wendy’s

face.

His sister joined in. “There isn’t a single decent person in the Carter family! You’ve been scheming against

the Hayes family for thirty years!”

Lucas clenched his fists and stepped forward as if he were about to hit my daughter.

I’d had enough.

The moment I snapped my fingers, four men in black suits immediately entered the hospital room, their

movements swift and precise.

Each man restrained one of them, pinning Skyler’s mother, his sister, Lucas, and Madeline against the wall.

Seeing that they were still trying to scream insults even after being restrained, I immediately ordered my

people to gag them.

My mother-in-law’s eyes widened as she struggled against the restraint, while my sister-in-law trembled with

fear. Tears streaked down Madeline’s face, but she couldn’t make a sound.

Skyler tried to shout, but Mr. Reed placed a firm hand on his shoulder and held him in place.

Finally, the room was quiet.

I walked over to Skyler and took another document from my bag.

“This is the divorce agreement.”

He lowered his head and read it line by line.

The agreement clearly stated that during the marriage, Skyler’s total salary had amounted to thirty dollars.

Any increase in the value of the Carter Group equity during the marriage was excluded from the marital

estate because I had not personally participated in company management. Those interests belonged entirely

to the Carter family office.

Skyler had no personal assets to divide.

It also stated that during the marriage, Skyler had transferred 170 million dollars in Carter Group funds to

Madeline and Lucas without my consent. Every dollar would have to be repaid.

When Skyler finished reading, his hand trembled so badly he could barely hold the pages.

“170 million dollars… How am I supposed to pay that back?”

“Well, that’s your problem.” My voice remained calm. “Refuse, and I’ll take you to court. Between the bigamy and the misappropriation of company funds, you can figure out how much prison time you’re facing.”

He looked up at me. For the first time, genuine fear filled his eyes.

“Vivian… We’ve been married for thirty years. Are you really going to be this ruthless? Are you really going to destroy me?”

“Ruthless?” I repeated the word softly, as if he’d just told me a joke.

“Skyler, when I was pregnant and lying on the floor in pain, I called you. You told me not to bother you.”

“The day our daughter was born, you stood outside the delivery room waiting for Madeline to give birth.”

“How many times did you hold our daughter?”

“You lived off the Carter family’s money, used everything the Carter family gave you to support your mistress

and your son, and then tried to swallow the entire Carter fortune.”

“And now you’re saying I’m the ruthless one?”

He couldn’t argue with that.

Mr. Reed handed him a pen.

Skyler stared at the divorce agreement for a long time, refusing to sign.

I glanced at Wendy, and she understood immediately.

She took a folder from her bag and opened it.

“Old man, take a look. Here’s the marriage record for you and Madeline.”

“You two registered your marriage in Northville in 2005. And that was after my mother married you. This is direct evidence of bigamy.”

“Whether you sign the divorce agreement or not doesn’t really matter. If you refuse, we’ll take the matter to

court.”

“Then you won’t just be getting divorced. You’ll be facing criminal charges.”

Skyler closed his eyes, deflating like an old tyre. After a long silence, he took the pen and signed his name on

the divorce agreement.

I collected the papers and turned toward the door. Just before I left, I stopped and looked back at him.

“Skyler, you spent thirty years working for the Carter Group. The Carter family gave you thirty years of wealth

and comfort. That was a fair trade.”

Then I opened the door and walked out.
