My Boyfriend’s Weekly Day Off Was For My Best Friend Chapter 06

My Boyfriend’s Weekly Day Off Was For My Best Friend Chapter 06

Cornered in the office by furious suppliers, Lorelei wet herself in sheer terror. In the end, Gavin had to sign a personal guarantee for the company’s debt just to get them to leave.

The second they locked the apartment door, all their so-called true love vanished without a trace.

Gavin raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face, sending Lorelei crashing to the floor.

“You bitch! If you hadn’t whispered in my ear nonstop, goading me into that stupid weekly day-off scheme, Nadine never would’ve found out!”

His eyes burned with rage. He grabbed a wine bottle off the coffee table and smashed it hard right at Lorelei’s feet.

Shards of glass sprayed everywhere, slicing her cheek

open.

“She was the golden goose I’d cultivated for seven years! Every single client deal for the company was secured through her connections!”

“And what about you?! What can you do besides beg me for money to buy handbags? You’re nothing but bad luck!”

Clutching her bleeding face, Lorelei screamed and lunged forward, yanking at Gavin’s hair.

“Gavin, are you even human?! You’re the one who swore you loved me in bed, who called her rigid and boring! Now the company’s ruined, and you’re dumping all the blame on me?!”

They bit and clawed at each other across the living room. The coffee table overturned, cups and plates shattering all over the floor.

The wreckage around them stood as a cruel testament to their ruin.

Gavin shoved the battered, bruised Lorelei aside and stumbled out of the apartment.

He’d gotten word that the Parker Group was hosting the city’s most exclusive business gala at the Meridian Grand Ballroom that night, and Nadine would be there.

“She loved me for seven whole years. She couldn’t possibly be this cruel to me…” Gavin muttered, like a man unhinged.

If he could only see Nadine, if he begged her, everything could still be fixed!

Half an hour later, outside the gilded gala hall, Gavin burst forward frantically. His suit was crumpled, scratch marks still visible on his face.

“Nadine! Nadine! I know I messed up, come out and see me!”

Before he could reach the red carpet, two burly security guards in black suits stepped forward coldly. With one clean takedown, they slammed him flat onto the marble floor.

“Get lost, beggar!”

Gavin’s face was pressed hard against the cold, unyielding marble, shaking with humiliation.

At that moment, the grand entrance doors slowly swung open.

Camera flashes lit up the entrance like strobe lights. The crowd parted automatically to make a

path.

I walked forward gracefully, linked arm in arm with Cedric, wearing a custom deep emerald velvet

gown.

A brilliant diamond necklace rested against my fair skin. I commanded the room with an effortless grace, so breathtakingly beautiful that no one dared meet my gaze.

“Nadine! Look at me! It’s Gavin!” Gavin writhed helplessly on the marble floor.

I paused, glancing down at him calmly from above.

The ankle strap on my stiletto had slipped loose as I walked. I frowned slightly.

In an instant, silence swallowed the entire ballroom.

Cedric, the ruthless, unapproachable powerhouse from Bethel who kept everyone at arm’s length, dropped to one knee without the slightest hesitation.

Gently, he fastened the loose clasp on my ankle strap.

Then he lifted his striking face, gazing up at me, his eyes soft with unwavering devotion.

“Ms. Kingsley, don’t rush.”

Gavin, pinned to the ground by the guards, watched every second of this scene.

Once he’d stood on top of the world. Now he lay prone, forced to watch Cedric treat me with such gentle reverence.

Tears streamed down his face, mixing with the blood from his split lip. He convulsed on the floor, consumed completely by jealousy and despair.
