I looked at Zoey’s anxious expression and shook my head.

This entire situation had been strange from beginning to end, and even the officers had noticed it.

After all, everything about this was suspicious, yet Zoey kept pushing me to pay.

She had even been ready to use the security guards against us. On top of that, from the very

beginning, she had detained me and my clients, which was already a serious problem in itself.

“Don’t worry, Ms. Gray.”

I looked at Zoey and said calmly, “The officers are here too. Once everything is investigated, if that woman really is my mother-in-law, I’ll pay.”

Even the officers said they could take me to the station first, and once the matter was clarified, the

bill could be handled.

They also told Zoey to notify the owner of the restaurant.

When Zoey heard that, her face went even paler.

At that moment, Zoey suddenly changed her tune. “Officers, this is such a small matter. There’s no need to notify our owner, is there?”

“I have the authority to decide. Ms. Carter, I’ll give you fifty percent off this bill.”

“It’s only $15,000. Surely you can afford that, right?”

When she said that, I laughed out of anger.

“Zoey, do you still not understand?”

“If this were my bill, I would pay every cent.’

“But I’m not handing over $15,000 for no reason.”

I stared coldly at Zoey and said, “Besides, do you really think this is still about $15,000?”

“You unlawfully detained all of us and even tried to seize my property and my clients’ property.”

“This is not something $15,000 can solve anymore.”

After saying that, I stared at Zoey coldly.

I truly had no idea what she was thinking. Things had already reached this point, and I had already called the police, yet she still believed I would be willing to hand over $15,000.

Zoey stood there, not daring to speak, and I had already run out of patience.

I turned to the two officers and said directly, “Officers, I’ll go with you to the station.”

“But my clients have nothing to do with this.”

“Please let them leave first.”

Hearing that, the officers immediately nodded. “Of course.”

I turned and apologized to the clients, and they all said they understood.

They also told me that if I needed legal help, I could reach out to them.

They knew some attorneys.

Only after the clients left did I finally let out a breath of relief.

After all, they were clients I had invited. Having something like this happen here was not a good

look.

Then I turned back toward Zoey and the officers. Even the officers were urging Zoey to call the

owner of The Harborview as soon as possible, but Zoey only kept stammering.

Her behavior only made everyone suspect her even more.

I said nothing and simply watched in silence.

When the officers realized they could not get the phone number from Zoey, one of them stepped

outside and made a call. Just twenty minutes later, a man hurried in, looking as if he had rushed

over.

His name was Nathan Shaw, the owner of The Harborview.

After he arrived, he listened to the officers. A moment later, his gaze locked on Zoey.

“Zoey, you’d better give me an explanation.”

“And are the restaurant’s security cameras really broken?”
