I Only Wanted Luxury Shopping, and Accidentally Saved the Whole Family Chapter 14

I turned to Conrad.

“Dad,” I said softly. “What I was buying were the controlling stakes in the raw material mines and supply chains behind those top-tier luxury brands. Those three gold mines were just the least conspicuous assets in my portfolio.”

I looked over at Asher, who was completely shell-shocked. “Before trying to pull a scam, you should really check who you’re messing with.”

Asher stumbled backward, knocking over an armchair behind him. “No, impossible…”

Panicking, he fumbled with his phone, trying to call his accomplices.

All he got was a mechanical busy tone.

His accounts had been completely frozen.

“Why won’t it go through?” Asher frantically tapped at the screen, his knuckles white from forcing the glass.

Every drop of the suave, refined air he took pride in was completely gone; he looked like a gambler who had lost his shirt.

“What did you do?” He whipped his head up, glaring at me with bloodshot eyes. “What did you do to my credit line?”

I walked back to the couch, sat down, and poured the cold coffee into a crystal ashtray nearby.

“Nothing much,” I said, pulling out a napkin to wipe my hands. “I just had Richard cut off your high-leverage financing channels. Right now, Stellar Capital is nothing but a hollow shell loaded with massive debt.”

I looked at his despairing face. “Mr. Locke, the bankruptcy liquidation process will begin shortly. But not for the Kensingtons.”

“For you.”

Conrad sat in his armchair, gasping for air as if he had just climbed out of a suffocating abyss. He looked at me, his eyes filled with profound complexity.

“Willow…” Conrad’s voice trembled. “Is everything you said true?”

I pulled a document with a gold wax seal from my bag and tossed it onto the coffee table. “Dad, this is the genuine proof of ownership for those three gold mines. See for yourself.”

Veronica was the first to rush over. She snatched up the file and read it with extreme care this time, her hands shaking even harder than before.

“An asset guarantee issued by UBS…” Veronica muttered to herself. “Beneficiary… Willow Frost.”

She turned her head to look at me as if staring at an alien. “Willow, you… how many secrets are you keeping from us?”

Sloane leaned over to steal a glance and gasped sharply. “It shows the market value of these three gold mines has reached an astounding eighty billion dollars… and that’s only a small fraction of her offshore trust.”

Silence fell over the Kensington living room once again, save for Asher’s heavy, ragged breathing.

Suddenly, as if losing his mind, he lunged toward the coffee table to grab the real proof of ownership.

“It’s fake! It’s all fake!” he shrieked hysterically.

Seeing the shift in the situation, his four bodyguards moved to act.

Ezra’s eyes went icy. He slammed his foot into the back of Asher’s knee, sending him crashing onto his knees in front of the coffee table.

Ezra pinned his arms behind his back, locking him tightly against the carpet.

“Jarvis,” Ezra ordered coldly. “Have security throw this trash out.”

A dozen fully armed Kensington security guards flooded in through the doors, instantly subduing Asher’s men.

Two guards hauled Asher up, pinning his face against the floor. His gold-rimmed glasses fell to the side, the lenses shattering into a spiderweb.

“Willow!” Asher was still thrashing, glaring at me with raw venom. “Don’t get cocky! Cross the powers behind me, and you’ll go down too.”
