I Only Wanted Luxury Shopping, and Accidentally Saved the Whole Family Chapter 07

“Impossible,” Veronica muttered to herself. “A transfer of gold mines on this scale… there’s no way Wall Street wouldn’t have caught wind of it.”

Asher picked up the antique cup on the coffee table, gave it a look of disgust, and set it back down.

“Mrs. Kensington, the world is vast,” he said. “Not everything falls under Wall Street’s radar.”

He watched the despairing Kensington family, a flash of triumph gleaming in his eyes.

Conrad closed his eyes, two streams of tears slipping down his wrinkled cheeks. “I’ve brought the Kensingtons down…”

“Dad,” Ezra said, taking Conrad’s ice-cold hands. “It’s not over yet. We still have options.”

Conrad shook his head. “No more.”

He opened his eyes and looked toward Jarvis standing nearby. “Go to the study and bring down the seal from the safe.”

“Dad!” Veronica and Sloane cried in unison.

“We can’t give it to him,” Veronica said, biting her lip. “If we surrender the seal, the Kensington Group will truly belong to Asher.”

Conrad sighed. “If we don’t, creditors will push every single one of us into a corner tomorrow. I’m already old—my life doesn’t matter anymore.”

He looked at Ezra, his eyes filled with profound guilt. “But you kids are still young. Especially Willow.”

Hearing my name, I froze slightly on the stairs.

“She’s never suffered a day in her life,” Conrad continued. “She shouldn’t have to endure ruin just because she married Ezra.”

Conrad turned to Veronica. “Go get Willow. Have her sign the divorce papers. Ezra has a trust fund in his name. It’s not part of the Group’s assets. Let Willow take that money and leave.”

Veronica’s eyes turned red. Tears finally spilled over as she looked at Conrad. “Dad, Willow might not know much about business… but she’s still part of this family.”

Conrad waved his hand, cutting her off. “Go call her,” he said in an unquestionable tone.

Sitting to the side, Asher watched this dramatic scene unfold with cold detachment. He even leisurely crossed his legs.

“How touching, Mr. Kensington,” Asher applauded mockingly. “Too bad everyone runs when the ship goes down. That delicate little Mrs. Kensington has probably already packed her bags.”

“Shut your mouth!”
