I Only Wanted Luxury Shopping, and Accidentally Saved the Whole Family Chapter 01

Among the eight Kensington daughters-in-law, everyone wrote me off.

While my sisters-in-law graced Forbes lists and dominated high-level corporate circles, I spent my days indulging in lavish boutique runs across Beverly Hills.

While they discussed major corporate deals and strategic alliances, I only cared about collecting rare Hermès pieces.

In their eyes, I cared only about luxury and nothing else. They believed the youngest son had made a reckless choice marrying me.

I didn’t care. As long as my husband spoiled me endlessly and granted me every extravagant comfort I wanted, my only job was to look pretty.

That peaceful life lasted right up until the Kensington Group faced a crushing coordinated attack from powerful global rivals.

The opponents came at us relentlessly, seizing our core operational foundations by leveraging three overseas gold mines.

The entire family was thrown into utter chaos, and my father-in-law seemed to age decades overnight.

My brilliant sisters-in-law mobilized every connection they had, yet they couldn’t dig up any information on the mysterious rivals.

The enemy sat casually on our couch like they owned the mansion, demanding my father-in-law hand over the chairman’s seal.

I came downstairs holding a cup of freshly ground coffee and frowned. “Who tracked mess onto my couch?”

My eldest sister-in-law grabbed my arm, pulled me firmly behind her, and snapped, “Get back to your room right now!”

My husband hurriedly covered my eyes and pulled me backward.

Even in the middle of a brutal crisis, the whole family tacitly moved to shield and protect me.

As I reluctantly turned around, I caught a glimpse of the Patek Philippe on the enemy’s wrist.

No way.

The hidden mastermind behind the three gold mines was wearing a Patek Philippe with crooked index markers?

“All our core operational channels are completely blocked. All overseas partnerships have collapsed,” Veronica, my eldest sister-in-law, said, setting her satellite phone down firmly on the Persian rug with a dull thud.

The living room fell dead silent.

The Kensington family was one of the oldest and most influential elite dynasties in Boston, filled with top-tier achievers.

Veronica was a top corporate strategy specialist from Wall Street.

Sloane, my second sister-in-law, was a dominant figure in global project development.

And Conrad Kensington, my father-in-law, had led and governed the Kensington Group steadily for over forty years.

Then there was me—Willow Frost, the wife of the youngest son, Ezra Kensington.

To them, I was nothing more than a simple girl who only loved fine luxuries.

I leaned back against the custom orange Hermès couch, scrolling through an iPad.

The screen displayed exclusive rare leather styles from a private Beverly Hills boutique: three Himalaya Crocodile designs and two diamond-encrusted Birkin styles.

My fingers hovered over the screen in hesitation.

“Sloane, any feedback from our European collaborators?” Veronica asked, rubbing her temples, her voice worn thin with exhaustion.

Sloane closed her laptop and shook her head helplessly. “All cooperation was rejected. The rival’s suppression is merciless. They cut off all our operational paths and locked down every outlet by leveraging the three overseas gold mines.”

Conrad sat in his wooden armchair, looking utterly worn out, as if he had aged ten years overnight. His hair had turned grayer, and his posture was stooped.

Ezra walked over with a plate of peeled Cotton Candy grapes and sat beside me. He picked one up with a toothpick and held it gently to my lips.

“Open up,” he said softly, completely unfazed by the family’s looming crisis.

I bit into the grape. It was sweet and juicy.

Ezra gently wiped the corner of my mouth with a tissue. “Veronica, you all handle the group’s affairs. Willow is soft and easily startled. Don’t upset her.”

Veronica held back her frustration and turned away.

In her eyes, I was just a simple luxury-loving wife who understood nothing of power and struggles.

I didn’t bother to explain.
