He Asked Me to Divorce Her 19 Times, I Asked Him to Wait Till I Die Chapter 09

“Lesly! How dare you toy with my feelings like this? You thought you could use the baby to climb high?”

Gideon snapped completely. He stared at Lesly’s swollen belly and laughed suddenly, a cruel,

twisted grin.

“What are you doing? Gideon! No!”

Gideon lifted his foot and kicked her hard in the belly. He ignored her begging, laughing wildly. “Go

to hell. You bitch!”

“No! Gideon, don’t! Don’t!”

Lesly’s pleas were useless. She clung to Gideon’s leg, but he kicked her away roughly.

I listened as Lesly went from begging to cursing him out, “Gideon! I hate you! You deserve to never find love! You deserve to lose everyone you care about!”

I watched the absurd scene and chilled to the bone. I remembered that day Gideon pushed me to the

ground, hot blood pouring from me.

I’d trembled at his feet, grabbed him, and begged, “Gideon. The baby… our baby…”

Tears splattered onto the floor. Like my dignity, trampled beneath my own feet.

I brought myself to my lowest, begging Gideon. “Save our baby…”

Gideon had looked pained. I saw panic in his eyes, and he reached to lift me. “Honey, don’t be

scared!”

Before he could touch me, Lesly’s cry cut through, “Gideon!”

Her wrist was slit. Tears streaming down her face, she cried, “It’s her or me. You can only choose

one!”

Lesly broke down completely.

Gideon froze mid-step. After a flicker of conflict, he only picked up Lesly. He passed me and said, “Aubrielle, we can have another baby. But if Lesly dies, there will be no one like her ever again.”

I thought I would die that day. I thought I would never make it.

Then the hotel door burst open. Gideon had actually called 911. I was lifted onto a stretcher, my life slipping away.

I heard the nurse ask, “The contact in your phone labeled ‘honey’-is that your husband? Why can’t we ever get through to him?”

Tears kept falling from my eyes, as if they would never run dry.

Even as I was wheeled into the operating room, I could still hear the doctor’s regretful voice. “What

a shame. It was fully formed.”

Fully formed. What a shame.

I watched Lesly lying in a pool of blood. Victoria pinched her nose in disgust and stepped to me. “I kept my promise. If you agree, you and your baby will have the permanent protection of the Carman family.”

Gideon, wild and delirious, lifted his head sharply.

I only touched my belly and smiled gently. “You forgot? A month and a half ago, you had a fight with Lesly, got dead drunk, and came home. That’s when I got pregnant.”

I watched Gideon go from stunned to shocked to overjoyed. He rushed toward me, but guards

blocked his way.

Gideon roared, “How dare you stop me! Do you know who I am?”

Victoria let out a cold laugh, “Who are you? Nothing but a discarded son of the Carman family. We

have a new heir now.”

She glanced at my flat belly.

“You’ve outlived your usefulness, Gideon.”
