Ten years later, just like in my last life, Adrian Cross 

became the Don of the North Shore mob. 

And I became a successful lawyer. I wanted Adrian to 

stay within the limits of the law whenever he could. 

If he ever needed it, I would defend him.

But lately, our relationship had hit a major crisis. 

One of my clients had his eye on me. 

His name was Felix, the golden boy of one of North

That was partly on me. I genuinely had not realized he 

was trying to pursue me. 

On Sunday, I was sleeping in with Adrian, curled up in 

his arms. 

Then Felix suddenly called and asked me to come 

discuss a case for his company. 

His face pressed against my chest, one hand already 

wandering, Adrian said unhappily, “Who the hell asks people to talk business on a weekend?” 

“It’s for work. Be good.” 

Adrian clicked his tongue, but he got up with me 

anyway and drove me there. 

Felix had chosen one of his own restaurants for the 

meeting. 

The second I walked in, I knew I had stepped into a 

trap. 

Rose petals covered the floor, and heart–shaped candles were burning everywhere. 

Felix walked toward me holding a bouquet of red roses. 

“Elena, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” 

Adrian laughed in disbelief. 

“Elena?” 

I immediately took Adrian’s hand and laced my fingers through his. 

“I have a boyfriend. We’ve been together for ten years, and we’re very much in love.” 

Felix really had nerve. He looked Adrian up and down and said provocatively, “I know. But if you’ve been dating for ten years and he still hasn’t married you, odds are he never will. I’m younger than him, and I’m richer. Dump him and be with me. That’s the smart choice.” 

Adrian’s fists were already clenched. 

If I had not been holding onto him, he would have gone straight over there and punched Felix. 

I rubbed a hand over Adrian’s chest, trying to calm him 

down. 

Then I said to Felix, “What the hell is wrong with you?” 

I dragged Adrian out with me. 

Even after we got home, that terrifying low pressure was still radiating off him. 

I crouched in front of him and said with a smile, “Come on, don’t be mad. I had no idea he was going to pull some ridiculous stunt like that. I’m innocent here too.” 

“Elena Vance, after sleeping with me for ten years, are you getting tired of me?” 

I just stared at him with a full–on “what the hell?” look 

on my face. 

“You are. Don’t think I don’t use the internet. Girls 

these days all like guys under twenty–five. I’m 

twenty–eight now, so you want someone younger, with 

better stamina.” 

“You’re being insane. Your stamina is the problem. I 

have a hard enough time every single time.” 

“You don’t like it? It doesn’t feel good?” 

I cleared my throat and said carefully, “We’re… arguing right now, aren’t we? If so, could you maybe slow down a little? I’m getting carsick.” 

Adrian got angry. 

“Take this seriously. Stop joking around. You’re this gorgeous, this charming. There are only going to be more and more men after you.” 

I hooked my pinky around his finger. 

I knew he did not actually doubt me. He was just using 

this as an excuse, because he wanted to marry me so 

badly. 

I was the one who had said I did not want to get 

married too early, and he had been following my pace 

because of that. 

Adrian Cross wanted to get married every single day. 

And now, I was finally ready. 

“Adrian, let’s get married.” 

The anger on Adrian’s face vanished instantly. His smile turned blindingly bright, and he grabbed my 

hand and started pulling me away. 

“Where are we going?” 

“To pick out a wedding dress.” 

He really was in a hurry.
