The Luna Who Heard Cruel Secrets Chapter 08 His Only Luna

Right then, a pointed little cough cut through the moment.

Daisy had apparently been leaning against the hood of the car the whole time.

“Sorry to interrupt,” she said, her mouth tugging into an amused half–smile.

“Though if I’m being honest, I’d really rather not ruin this scene… You two should probably save the rest for home.”

I immediately scrambled out of Rhett’s arms.

My face was burning so badly I wanted to bury my head in the roadside shrubs.

Daisy just waved a hand and smiled at me.

“Goodnight, Anna. See you tomorrow.”

She turned toward her silver sports car, then glanced back over her shoulder before getting in and gave me a wink.

Then it was just Rhett and me left on the road.

Staring at each other.

Wind came from every direction, carrying the scent of pine needles and damp earth. Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howl rose across the dark–long, lonely, from some patrol post in another territory.

Rhett lowered his gaze to my face.

That heavy look of his, the one I had once mistaken for scrutiny, felt utterly different now.

He held out his hand.

“Come on,” he said. “Let’s go home.”

I placed my hand in his palm without resisting.

His fingers closed around mine and laced through them, his skin hot and dry, like a furnace disguised as a man.

When we got back, I tucked myself against him and asked, “How come I never knew you had a sister?”

Rhett brushed his fingers along my cheek.

“My sister is the White Wolf. She was born different. There was danger around her from the start, so the Pack sealed off all news about her and sent her to the Trial Grounds to grow up in secret. She only came back recently.”

I wriggled a little deeper into his arms.

“This is all your fault. If you’d told me sooner, Daisy wouldn’t have had the chance to laugh at me.”

Rhett arched a brow.

“Is that so?” His eyes darkened. “I don’t think that’s the problem we should be focusing on right now.”

Then he scooped me up in both arms and started toward the bedroom.

“Rhett… what are you doing…”

“What do you think?” he murmured against my hair. “We’re finally finishing what we never got to finish.”

“N–no… wait-

I had no idea how much time passed before I drifted awake again.

My whole body felt weak and boneless.

Rhett was an absolute brute.

I had cried and begged him to let me go, and somehow that had only made things worse. By the end, I’d thought I might actually faint.

I couldn’t even lift a finger now.

Then again… after holding himself back that long, maybe it wasn’t so surprising.

The second the memory flashed through my head–Rhett’s strong body moving over mine–I felt heat rush back into my face.

I yanked the blanket over my head.

And immediately had it pulled back down.

Rhett.

“What’s wrong, baby?” he asked, with maddening calm. “You didn’t like it?”

“N–no… I mean… I didn’t like it. You’re awful.”

“Oh?” His mouth curved. “Then I guess I just didn’t work hard enough.”

And with that, he came right back over me.

I wanted to push him away, but I had no strength left.

“N–no… don’t…”

“Too late,” he murmured. “That’s not up to you anymore.”

And then there was another round of chaos.

Afterward, Rhett held me in his arms and stroked my face with impossible gentleness while I drifted into sleep against his chest.

From that day on, I never heard the servants‘ thoughts again.

Maybe because the misunderstanding between Rhett and me had finally been broken open laid to rest.

And Rhett only got clingier after that.

He hardly resembled an Alpha at all.

He took me everywhere with him, like he was terrified I’d disappear the second he looked away.

Once, Daisy and I slipped out for a day of fun without telling him.

Rhett personally came to drag me back.

He threw me onto the bed and gave me a very thorough “lesson.”

I liked it way too much.

I liked Rhett.

And I liked how possessive he was.
