I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 09

I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 09

Ethan stared at the divorce summons on the table.

He couldn’t understand it–he’d merely helped a subordinate, so how had things escalated to the point of

divorce?

Claire wasn’t like this before.

He’d driven Molly home before and helped her change a light bulb in the living room–back then, Claire had

even said he was showing favoritism to his subordinates. So why was it completely different when it came

to Summer?

He thought it over and over, and there was only one possibility.

Claire was jealous that Summer was younger than she. After all, Molly and Claire were about the same age.

But he forgot that he’d driven Molly home because she’d had a few drinks at a company party; he’d changed the light bulb for her because she’d just moved into her new place that day. They had gone over to help her

settle in.

Molly had always been a person who knows her limits. She would never seek out Ethan alone for anything.

She had her own circle of friends, and she certainly knew how to keep her distance from married men.

But Summer–knowing full well that Ethan was married–called him in the middle of the night.

Ethan switched to his cell phone to call me, his voice hoarse. “Claire, can we talk?”

“Talk about what?”

“Summer and I…”

“Ethan, I don’t want to know–and I don’t care to know–what your relationship with Summer is. If you won’t

agree to a divorce, I don’t mind filing for one.”

“Does it really have to come to this? We’ve been together for ten years…”

“Do you dare swear you’ve never had even the slightest interest in Summer?”

Ethan hesitated.

I said, “Ethan, I can see everyone’s Loyalty Percentage above their heads.”

“Your Loyalty Percentage toward me used to be 100%.”

“But now… it’s down to 60 percent.”

“So, Ethan, you were the one who betrayed this relationship first.”

Ethan fell silent.

Summer got fired–Molly fired her–and apparently, when she left, she went to Ethan’s place and had a good

cry.

Ethan wanted to speak up for Summer, but before he could say a word, Molly cut him off, “If you still want to win your wife back, don’t say a word on her behalf.”

Ethan fell silent immediately.

After Summer was fired, Ethan came back to Wynne City.

Willa, Luna, and I were just about to go out when, as soon as we stepped out of the complex, Ethan called

out to us.

“Luna.” Luna turned around, saw Ethan, and ran toward him with a smile.

“Daddy!”

Ethan scooped Luna up in his arms: “Did you miss Daddy, Luna?”

“Yes!”

My three–year–old daughter still had no idea what was going on–she didn’t know that her parents‘ relationship had reached its end, and she didn’t know that they were about to get divorced.

Ethan looked at me: “Claire, I’ve already fired Summer, and I’ll never have anything to do with her again.”

I interrupted him: “It was Molly who fired Summer, not you. Ethan, don’t take credit for this–you’re just too

soft–hearted.”

A hint of embarrassment flashed in his eyes: “Anyway, Summer’s already been fired. Can you give me another chance?”

“I’ve really missed you these past few days.”

He said he missed me, but the number above his head was still stuck at 63%.

Sure enough, men’s words are nothing but lies.
