Live Wedding: I Married My Fiancé’s Rival on the Spot Chapter 08

Mason’s blood went cold.

Three years of pursuit. Two years of dating. He thought I’d always been the one standing in place

waiting for him.

He was busy with family business. She waited.

He stood her up at the last minute. She waited.

He accompanied Iris out of state for “emotional support.” She still waited.

Every time he said “our relationship doesn’t need a contract to prove itself,” she’d smile and nod.

He thought she genuinely didn’t care.

He thought even if something went wrong today, she’d cry a bit, throw a fit, then ask with

red-rimmed eyes.

“Then when will you come get me?”

But now? She’d actually signed a marriage contract with Adrian Vitale.

Mason’s eyes were red.

“No, your contract doesn’t count.”

“The joint wedding was chaos. Adrian just grabbed someone to fill the spot. We can petition the alliance to revoke it-”

“Why doesn’t it count?” Selena laughed lightly. “Only contracts signed with

you

count?”

Mason choked.

“He’s not good enough for you. You know what he wants from you? He used to say you were stupid. Said you were too easy to fool.”

Adrian chuckled. He didn’t deny it.

“Selena, do you know what he said to me privately? He said your biggest mistake in life was being

with me.”

“He said you were stupid. He said it to my face. Ask him if you don’t believe me!”

I turned to look at Adrian.

Adrian shrugged.

“Correction. I said it to her face.”

Mason grabbed my wrist.

“Hear that? He never respected you. Selena, come back with me. We’ll live properly—”

I looked down at my wrist in his grip. Didn’t struggle. Just said softly, “Mason. You’re hurting me.”

He reflexively let go.

I rotated my wrist. Smile playing on my mouth.

“Isn’t that what you thought too?”

“Being with me because I’m stupid, easy to fool, willing to accept your so-called spiritual love, not interfering with your dirty little affair with Iris?”

Mason froze.

He wanted to explain. But my mother, on the hospital bed, spoke.

“Mason, you married someone else. What are you doing here?”

Mason faced her. Tried to steady his voice.

“Madam, today was a misunderstanding, I…”

“No misunderstanding.” My mother cut him off. “I watched the livestream. You signed with someone else. My daughter signed with someone else. Separate paths. Fine.”

Mason opened his mouth. Didn’t know what to say.

My mother continued.

“Thanks for before. No need to worry about after.”

“My son-in-law is Vitale. Not Morgan.”

Mason stood there. Like all strength had been drained from him.

Iris tugged his sleeve. Voice very light.

“Mason, let’s go first. Explain another day…”

Mason shoved her away hard. Stared at me dead-on.

“Selena, it’s not what you think, listen-”

“Listen to what?” I interrupted. “Hear about how hard Iris has it?”

Mason paused slightly. He wanted to say that the contract didn’t count. Say he was wrong. Say he’d

make it up to me.

But I’d already turned. Handed the apple to Adrian.

“Honey, peel another one. I want some too.”

No one paid Mason any more attention.

He stood at the door. Like dirty air that wandered into the wrong place.

Iris dragged him three times before finally hauling the soulless man back to the Morgan house.

The moment they entered, an ashtray exploded at his feet.

Old Man Morgan was shaking with rage.

“Idiot! Do you know what you’ve done?”

“Do you know Selena is pregnant with a Morgan child?”
