Live Wedding: I Married My Fiancé’s Rival on the Spot Chapter 06

“All newlyweds, please gather at plaza center.”

Applause and cheers flooded from every direction.

Mason looked up. Didn’t know why, but hearing “successfully signed” felt like a blade to his chest.

The groomsmen assigned to guard 302 were nearly crying.

“Mason, we were both guarding 302’s door. Someone knocked us out from behind.”

“When we woke up, Selena and Nina were both gone!”

Mason paused a second. Face darkening.

“She must have found out.”

“What do we do?”

“What can we do?” Mason adjusted his cuffs. Voice flat. “I already guessed she’d react.”

“She looks docile, but she’s stubborn to the bone. Let her cool off first.”

Before, whenever he paid Iris a little extra attention, Selena would get upset.

Never said it, but he could tell.

That’s why he didn’t tell Selena in advance, ask her to play along in front of his parents and the

alliance.

Because she’d never agree.

This Five Families joint wedding gave him the perfect opportunity.

Fifty couples signing simultaneously. Livestream cameras chaotic. Veils covering faces.

Once the process finished, the contract stamped, it was too late for Selena to do anything.

She’d be angry. Heartbroken. Maybe hide somewhere and cry.

But after crying?

He had confidence he could win her back.

Three years ago, when they pulled her from the river, she was trembling in his arms. In those hardest days, he walked her through them.

Her friends all knew him. Her mother practically treated him as half a son.

During hospitalization, she listened to no one but him.

Let her throw her tantrum. As long as she didn’t storm the cameras and ruin his setup.

After returning, he had a hundred ways to coax her.

He quickly suppressed that unease. Turned to Iris with a smile.

“Let’s go say hi to Adrian.”

Iris stopped him.

“Adrian seems to have left.”

Mason frowned. Stopped a nearby staff member

“Aren’t we taking group photos? How do we shoot with one couple short?”

Staff checked the list. Looked up. “Mr. Vitale’s pair left early. The bride’s mother had an emergency. Life or death. Organizers gave special approval.”

Mason’s heart tightened suddenly. He thought of Selena’s mother.

Lying in that hospital bed. Hair gone. Counting days waiting for her daughter’s wedding.

Today’s livestream, she must be watching too.

Waiting to see Selena sign the marriage contract.

If she saw the son-in-law she approved of, holding another woman’s hand, vowing, stamping,

filing…

Could she survive it?

Mason’s hand clenched unconsciously.

Iris stepped forward. Smiling. “Seems Adrian and that lady are serious. Just signed the marriage contract, already rushing to see her mother.”

Mason didn’t respond.

Iris moved closer. Eyes bright, looking at him.

“Let’s go. Take the group photo first. Today’s livestream is already set in stone. The Morgan family

should know–I’m your wife now.”

His plan had succeeded.

Contract signed. Livestream broadcast.

Even if his parents wanted to object, too late now.

But this group photo…

Mason took a deep breath. Suddenly said, “Not taking it. I’m going to the hospital first.”

Iris’s smile paused. Immediately realized what he was thinking.

“I’ll go with you.”

“Why?”

“I’m worried about you.” Iris softened her voice. “You’re going alone. What if Selena’s mother explodes? I can at least help explain a few words.”

She lowered her eyes. “Besides, today’s incident started because of me. I should apologize.”

Mason hesitated for two seconds. Didn’t refuse.

The car drove fast.

These years, he’d mapped out Selena’s temper completely.

When wronged, she never made a scene on the spot. Just hid at her mother’s place.

This time, without warning her, he’d swapped brides at the last minute. She must have cried her way to the hospital.

In the trunk, he’d long prepared apology flowers and gifts.

The car stopped at the hospital entrance. Mason took a breath. Pushed the door open.

Reaching the floor where Selena’s mother stayed, he rounded the corner-and froze.

Adrian leaned against the wall outside the hospital room. Holding an apple. Peeling it.

Mason blanked.

“Adrian, what are you doing here?”

Adrian looked up. Glanced at him. Didn’t stop peeling.

“My mother-in-law wanted to see me. So I came.”

Mason’s brain detonated.

Mother-in-law?

Adrian’s mother-in-law?

Something was clicking together in his head, piece by piece.

Iris stepped forward to greet him, smiling.

“Adrian, what a coincidence. Thanks for today. By the way, who did you actually get matched with?”

Adrian didn’t speak. Head down, kept peeling.

Iris’s smile faltered.

This man had agreed to help, yet treated her with cold indifference the entire time.

She almost doubted her own charm.

She was about to ask again when a familiar voice came from the cracked door.

“Honey, you’ve been peeling that apple forever.”

“Mom’s waiting.”

Mason went rigid all over.
