She was holding a half-eaten cake box in her hands.

“Lyra? What are you doing here?”

I simply looked past her and into the house.

The next second, my entire body froze.

Grandma Margaret’s old wooden cabinet was gone.

The rocking chair she loved sitting in by the window was gone.

The handmade wall decoration she had spent months creating was gone.

Even the old radio she had refused to throw away was nowhere to be found.

Everything inside had been replaced.

Empty.

Unfamiliar.

It was as if Grandma Margaret had never existed in this house.

“Where are my Grandma’s things?”

Selena blinked.

The innocent look on her face only made my anger burn hotter.

“Those things?”

“They were old and taking up space, so I got rid of them.”

“They were just useless old belongings. There was no reason to keep them.”

My fingers curled tightly.

My nails dug into my palm.

“Why are you in my house?”

Selena lowered her shoulders slightly, pretending to look nervous.

“Caden gave me the key.”

“He said this place was empty anyway, so I could stay here for a while while I prepared for my

exams.”

She tilted her head.

“Lyra… didn’t you know?”

My mind went completely blank.

During my third year of college, Caden had said he was worried I would lose my keys or forget

important things.

That was why he insisted on keeping a spare key.

I never imagined that one day, that same key would be used to let someone else into my home.

And erase every trace of my Grandma.

Before I could say anything, hurried footsteps came from the stairs.

Caden rushed up, breathing heavily.

The moment he saw me standing there with Selena, he immediately walked over and placed

himself between us.

“Lyra, why did you come all the way here?”

“How long are you planning to keep making a scene?”

I stared at him.

Then I pointed at the house behind him.

My voice shook despite everything I tried to hold back.

“Caden.”

“This house belonged to Grandma Margaret. She left it to me.”

“Who gave you the right to hand it over to Selena?”

“Who gave you the right to change the locks?”

Caden lowered his eyes.

His brows tightened.

“Selena needs a quiet place to prepare for her exams. This location is closer to where she studies.”

“I only let her stay here for a few days.”

“And the lock?”

“The old one was outdated. It wasn’t safe.”

He said it so casually.

Like he hadn’t taken something that wasn’t his.

Like none of this mattered.

I stared at him.

“Then where are my Grandma’s things?”

Caden was silent for a moment.

Then he answered calmly.

“Those old furniture pieces and decorations were just collecting dust.”

“Selena cleaned them out because she wanted you to have a more comfortable place when you

came back.”

I almost laughed.

Almost.

“This is my house.”

“Tell Selena to leave.”

Caden’s expression darkened.

He reached out and grabbed my shoulder, pushing me back a step.

“Lyra.”

“Look at yourself right now.”

“You’re letting your emotions control you.”

“You don’t even seem like yourself anymore.”

He pulled out his phone and transferred money to me.

“Go find somewhere nearby to stay tonight.”

“When you calm down, we’ll talk.”

At that moment, I finally understood.

I finally understood how insignificant I was in their eyes.

My family had abandoned me.

My mate had betrayed me.

And the person I trusted most had become another person who hurt me.

My wolf curled inside my chest, wounded by the betrayal.

“Someone entered my private residence without permission and changed my locks.”
